A Ton of Equipment to Tell You About

As you know, I went out to the course over the weekend to enjoy some of the nice weather here in the area.  Also, I was able to try out some new equipment.  I have a couple of videos to share and reviews to offer for each of the products.  Reviews of each product are after the jump.

Here is what I tried on course:

  • Launcher Tee - a plastic composite tee that is designed to reduce friction between tee and ball, meanwhile increasing your driving distance
  • ruletwentyone Golf Towel - a trifold golf towel that can be stored wet in your pocket for when you need it, but keep your trousers dry
  • Puma Golf Invisibond polo - the kind of shirt that Geoff Ogilvy has been wearing this season; in fact, the same one that he wore to win the Accenture Match Play

And, earlier today, I tried out a new product called The Putting Game.  It is an indoor putting game and training aid that you have to see to believe.

Star-divide

Launcher Tee

Launcher Tees are tees that come in 4 packs for about seven dollars.  They are made of plastic composite and feature 33% less surface area contact between tee and ball.  The intention is to reduce friction with the ball at contact to increase distance by up to 8 yards.

The product came in several sizes with extra width at defined points to create predictable tee heights.

As with any of these tee products, it is tough to prove their claims in a round.  But, it is clear that they are more durable and help players who struggle to be consistent with how they tee the ball.  And they're pretty cool to the touch.

ruletwentyone Golf Towel

This is a new style of golf towel.  The towel itself is not novel, but the concept behind the design of the towel is.  It is small and geared more to cleaning dirty golf balls on the green without having to sling a towel around like Bruce Lietzke.  Not being a towel guy myself, I enjoyed using it because I could store it in my pocket and take it around the course without feeling like it was a nuisance.  I shot a little how to video on the towel.  Check it out!

Puma Golf Invisibond polo

Puma Golf is one of my favorite golf fashion companies these days.  Along with Sligo Golf, they are creating men's golf fashion that is cutting edge and a throwback.  Puma is also making fashionable clothing that is functionally advanced as well.  The Invisibond technology in their polos is stitchless and very light.  It is designed to breath well (it's kind of see through at times) and not stuff up the player.  I really enjoyed the shirt and found that it performed really well on the course.  But, in the interest of not making you puke with my pathetic current physique, I present to you what the shirt looks like on Geoff Ogilvy.

The Putting Game

This is a product you just have to see on video to understand.  In order to do that, I produced this video for you to check out!

Nice reviews

Ryan-good reviews. I think I need one of those towels. I do not want to discuss how I usually clean my ball on the green…

Putting game looks great!

Nice reviews Ryan. Love the look of the putting game. Kinda like darts but for putting.

Launcher tees are a few years old. A friend of mine who was doing some marketing for them gave me a few when they were new and I STILL haven’t broken one. I like the models with the depth markers. Makes it a lot easier to be consistent putting the tee in the ground. (by the way – they do occassional web searches to see if they are getting mentioned – and they really appreciate the mentions – good people running this company)

The Towel really does work ! The test is more when you sit in the cart, but it works.

Puma hates fat guys ! :-D These are great shirts, but definitely look better on the skinny people.

The putting game is a blast. They had people lined up all day for three days to try it at the Merchandise Show. It’s scary how inconsistent most of us are from relatively short distances. AG has a great idea – maybe I wonder if they could put some sort of overlay or something to play a darts kind of game.

Agree on all of that. The one game I showed on the video is probably as close to 501 in darts as there is. Instead, I would play to 500 no matter how long it took to get there instead of five strokes per player, but it was really cool. It’s a wonderful product idea.
