@BooWeekley is on Twitter. It's On Like Donkey Kong, @StewartCink
I received an alert - a Tweet, if you will - from Adam Graham, one of my Twitter followers (frankly, I prefer "disciples" as a term everyone should use because it really plays into the self-importance inherent to social media) that Boo Weekley had found his way to Twitter.
Well, sort of. Cleveland Golf - or whoever is ghost Tweeting for now - is holding down the fort until Boo actually starts doing his own Tweets.
So far, Stewart Cink has the market for PGA Tour professional Twittering well cornered. He has like 65,000 followers. I project that Weekley will be at 150,000 followers in a week and that Ashton Kutcher's 1.25 million followers will look pitiful in a month.
If this Cleveland Golf commerical is any indicator, then Boo Weekley has a competitive spirit that (a) really pisses off Vijay Singh and (b) can be converted to the Internet world without risking any kind of fish memorabilia in Boo's lawn.
Sure, Ian Poulter, Stu Appleby, Parker MacLaughlin, and others are on Twitter. But, this could be a fierce rivalry.
It's gotta be better than the one between Golfweek, Golf.com, and Golf Channel. Golf Channel is killin' em.

That is just too funny, Ryan. Unfortunately it seems too true.

It really does bug me how a lot of Twitter is just self-promotion. I’m ok with self-promotion to a degree. I run my RSS feed through there so that people might be intrigued enough to visit and start a conversation here or on Twitter. But, I also like responding and talking with people on there as well. I’m flattered if someone follows me or responds to me. I don’t feel like I’m important because I have x number of followers or whatever. There are a lot more important things than that.

that can’t really surprise you…can it ? it’s free – it’s wide spread…of couse corporations are going to glom on – especially since there have been anti-spam legislations passed the last few years. This is the new spam.
Ok – what the heck does that “competitive spirit” paragraph have to do with this ? Do we have to have that reality vs fiction conversation again ? :-)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
It doesn’t shock me whatsoever, but it does annoy me. :)
The competitive spirit thing was just an excuse to have the YouTube video in the post. Sometimes, I have to make awkward segways, social references, or create bullshit reasons to put in the things that I want. haha.

lol – you don’t need an excuse to run that commercial ! It’s very funny…but you DO realize that Vijay lives in Ponte Vedra, and Boo lives in a very rural area of the Florida panhandle….they aren’t really neighbors… :-D
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Haha, I do. I know Vijay lives right at Sawgrass basically.

The residency distance...
…is actually the point of the ad. With the new Cleveland drivers, one can hit a golf ball across a wide swath of the Gulf of Mexico.
"Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into a even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose." - Winston Churchill
I hate to do this Ryan...
Segway = a two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicle
Segue = a method of smoothly transitioning from one topic to another
I assume you meant “segue.”
Sincerely,
Your friend, the GrammarBitch
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
It must be a regional slang term, cause I grew up using segway before it was even a device :)

oh no you di'int
RB – clearly you are homophonic !! :-D (sorry dude – segue has alway been segue until the segway was invented)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
I’m just telling you what we do here in Maryland. Sounds like it’s incorrect, but it’s what we do.

sigh – and they say that schools in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi are the worst !! :-P
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
If that’s the worst mistake I make, then I’m pretty happy, haha

LOL – don’t disagree with you. When we moved from Ohio to Georgia, I found out that my 6th grade Ohio education was good enough to just about carry me through high school in Georgia. Of course, a lot of the credit goes to my parents for making me do my homework, reading to me as a kid, and taking me to the library to get books.
(work on that “a” and “an” thing, too !) :-D

Don't forget about...
How ‘bout a little love for @PGATOUR on Twitter too? Besides being the official Twitter of the TOUR, they can give updates while Stewart, Boo and the rest of the guys are on the course (where they can’t use their phones to tweet).
Good post Ryan – keep me posted on any other TOUR players you find on Twitter and we can help verify.
Boo is really one of the few PGA guys
that I will listen to during an interview. Everyone else is boring
Boo just…is Boo…very entertaining
