Who the Hell is That Guy? Tim Wilkinson Edition
via www.news.com.au
There was definitely an unfamiliar name in the final pairing of the Verizon Heritage yesterday. It was New Zealander Tim Wilkinson. He's a lefty golfer and 30 years old. Last year was his first season on the PGA Tour and he very quietly earned $1.167 million. He had a second (Valero Texas Open), a third (next week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans), and another top ten (Puerto Rico Open) in 29 starts.
This season wasn't going so well for Tim until this week. He had missed half of his cuts and the best finish to date on the season was T38 at the Mayakoba event - where, interestingly enough, Brian Gay was defending champion.
At Harbor Town, he found the stroke thad had been eluding him though. He had 70 putts through 3 rounds and needed 22 in the final round to set the tournament record. Unfortunately, he took 27 to get home. Still, he beat the field by 3 putts per round and lead the field in driving accuracy.

Who were most guys on the leaderboard the other day?
Don’t get me wrong, I had heard of most but some were….well, no clue who they were

thank the Tiger-centric media for that. they don’t bother learning or telling anything about “lesser” players.

That’s why I did this post. You don’t hear much about these guys and I wanted to know more about him. Figured I would write a post while at it.

sadly, they don’t show up on the leaderboard very often, so the geniuses on TV don’t do their homework and get a little bit of enthusiasm up when someone other than a bomb and gouge player is leading.
geez – they might forget a fact about Tiger or Phil if they learned about a “no-namer”.
