A Simply Crazy Par 3 That You've Gotta See
The One-Eyed Golfer has found a gem that I hadn't seen yet. I'll let him explain it:
Legends Golf and Safari Resort has 18 holes designed by 18 different golfers, including Harrington, Colin Montgomery, Trevor Immelman, Bernard Langer, Retief Goosen, K.J. Choi, Justin Rose and Vijay Singh. This par 3 is 1,410 above the green and you must take a helicopter. It is considered the course's 19th hole and is only used for playoffs. It supposedly takes the ball 26 seconds from contact to hit the ground.
If a player manages a hole in one on this hole, they earn a million dollars. So, you may want to head to South Africa to take a crack at it.
Here's a video of Padraig Harrington playing and making par on the hole:

I’m not a physics guy, but I would guess the distance vector is kind of like a right triangle. So, if it’s 1410 feet (500 yards or so) in the air, but even only a small distance away – even 100 yards – would make the distance to fly driver length.

Heh.
And some complain about the 17th at Sawgrass being gimmicky.

really long divot tools required....
can you imagine the size of the hole a ball must leave in the green ? How in the world did Harrington’s ball not end up a foot underground in that bunker ?

Insane
I would hit gap wedge there.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

are you sure ?
you might spin it back off the green – how about a knock down 9 to take the spin off ? :-D

At this hole more than any other, I guess club selection would really depend on the wind!

I sent an email...
…to the resort asking about the length of the hole if the tee were on the same ground level as the green. With any luck, the pro or someone who knows will write back.
I’m pretty sure I can’t outdrive Harrington, and if he had to hit driver, my ball would be bouncing down the side of the mountain.
