Ji Yai Shin's wins and the LPGA
From Connie Wilson in Daytona Beach
Yes, her official LPGA Tour wins prior to becoming a LPGA member will be counted toward LPGA HOF wins calculations just like Laura Davies (20 wins, 25 HOF qualifying points) and Karrie Webb for instance. Please let me know if you need anything else
Connie was very nice to reply so quickly. I asked nicely and got a reply. That's cleared up now. How about them Florida Panthers now?

Non-member wins
Bill we know that the LPGA counts these wins as “Official” but the question is why they try to mislead us. Why does there have to be a asterisk next to 17 girls wins, other tours don’t do that. But the big question is why on their media Guide as enclosed they still show Shin with just one win not four.
Again it’s easy for Connie Wilson to say that it’s official then if it is Shin should be listed as 4 wins and they should stop these asterisk which detracts from the win.
The big joke is for them to make a big deal about her being a “rolex first time winner” and how the “rookie” has won for the first time.
A win is a win is a win weather they are a member or not, the money is spent the same way. The LPGA has to stop this deception.

No argument from me
Sal,
The tours are obtuse or obscene with the way they keep their records. I been following it for over 20 years since when a CBS broadcast was embarrassed by a glaring mistake in the PGA media guide book. JC Snead’s playoff record was omitted and he went to a playoff in Westchester.
In 1993 or 1994 another media guidebook had 4 printed pages worth of mistakes in the playoff records section alone.
In 2005 or so, I saw another media guide book that had a half dozen mistakes. I didn’t buy the book nor did I spend more than 15 minutes with it. If I’d spent longer, I’m sure I would have found more.
Here’s the most ridiculous thing of them all- George Archer set a record for putts over 72 holes in a PGA Tour event back in the 1980’s. 1980’s guidebooks listed the record as 94 putts. Sometime in the mid 1990’s the record was changed to 95. I brought this to the attention of the PGA Tour, actually I called them up. The tour is standing by 95 as the correct number, though I pointed out it was reported as 94 back when the tournament took place!
I should add
I’d love the opportunity to go to work on the PGA or LPGA"s records and clean them up. If the tours would hire me and give me access to the records. Does anyone realize the history they are losing or is getting warped because of the poor record management of the tours.
Don't wish too hard you may get what you wish for
That is a stupid wish, trust me when I say it’s a lot harder to clean up and do all of these records. I have been doing it for 20 years, by work is distributed to all the media at all four majors and there is no glory in doing this. Nobody thanks you for a job well done and you just hear from folks for either mistakes or very complicated questions.
Trust me it’s not worth the effort, people don’t care unless there is a problem.
