Thank God that Pesky Honda Classic is Over. TIGER!!111!!!
Craig Dolch, now of PGATour.com fame, used to work at the Palm Beach Post as their golf writer. Dolch was a victim of the buyouts and layoffs around the country as newspapers die and the golf beat writer goes with it. To cover the Honda Classic - Palm Beach's hometown event - the Palm Beach Post had Greg Stoda as their man on the scene.
Apparently, he is not an interested spectator. He was apparently bored to tears by the golf on Sunday at PGA National because - why else - there were no big names on the leaderboard. He rattles off the names that people (i.e., he) has never heard of before this week and says that it isn't the tournament's fault that the big names that it attracted did squat all week.
So, his takeaway from this week? Well, Tiger's playing next week!
Garcia, for example, might have gotten Woods' attention (though Woods likely wouldn't have said so) had he done something more than tie for 13th place. Garcia teased with an opening three-under-par 67, but then went 72-71-68 to stroll to the end seven shots off Yang's pace. Yang did qualify for the Doral show with his victory, by the way, so perhaps he'll present a challenge to Woods. Perhaps it's best to go with that notion at the outset of Tiger Week. Why even write something? Seriously. If you just want to write a buried lede saying Tiger is back and I was bored in the press tent, then just say it. Most of the time, Tiger admits that he doesn't even watch pro golf when he isn't playing. And with Woods' track record on the WGCs and at Doral, I don't think he really cares who is in the field. Then again, sounds like some in the media don't either.

Where's The Donald when you need him ?
Greg Stoda…YOOOOOUUU’RRREE FFFIIIIIIIRRRRRREEDDDD !!! Is it any wonder that people don’t watch or attend in big numbers when idiots like this are allowed to write…and worse…get PAID to write crap like this ?
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
AND !!
This paper doesn’t have a place for comments or even an email to the sports department. Stoda’s email is linked in the story, but you might as well bang your head on the sidewalk than expect to get through to someone who writes stories like this.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Sounds like...
I am I listening to The Golf Channel? Hey Greg Stoda…send resume to Golf Channel immediately…you would fit right in over there.
