This week is the kick off of the month long Florida Swing on the PGA Tour. It begins at PGA National (which hosted a PGA Championship in its "dark years"), home of the Bear Trap. Scoring was so bad because of the wind last year. The tournament put out a press release lauding itself for crappy scoring. The point? This course is meant to punish - not be fun. -5 or so could win.
Ernie Els is defending champion. I refuse to pick him this week. His game is going sideways and his three years to catch Tiger are almost up. Woods even gave him about a year with injuries and Els still did nothing with it.
Mark Wilson won in a four way playoff in 2007 that set the standard for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Boo Weekley and Camilo Villegas were among the losers that became winners later in their Tour careers.
That said, I like Wilson again this week. He won last week - you know how I feel about winners - and has won here already. Seems really obvious. Camilo, too. He's had a real nice start to the season.
If I didn't tell you to pick Rory McIlroy this week, I'd be an idiot. The kid looked great in the desert. The Emerald Isle (yes, he's from NORTH Ireland) is susceptible to a lot of wind, so a gust or two shouldn't faze the lad.
Stewart Cink had a real nice finish to his Accenture Match Play and is here for the first time in six years. I like him this week. Riding that same momentum from a different event is the very streaky Kevin Streelman.
I'm tempted to suggest that look at staying away from Sergio Garcia. You won't listen, though.

Really?
Cause I was just able to pick him for fantasy golf.

you can still pick him
even if he’s not entered. You’ll just suffer the consequences when he gets you no points. I know this from personal experience. 8-(
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
he was, but I think he wanted to protect his wrist
…no matter what the doc said!

"TRY" was the operative word
last week. The doctor said he had scar tissue clanging around in his wrist – guess it didn’t stop hurting in time for the Honda.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
By the way...
…why would you even THINK about picking a guy who just had to pull out of a match because of a wrist injury ?
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Cause the doctor said it was ok :) And if Tiger can win on one leg, then shouldn’t Luke Donald be good enough to ride the C bench in fantasy?

just wondering...
…I was trying to figure out the logic of taking a limp wristed Brit…with a sore wrist. :-) (JUST kidding – I really am a fan of Luke Donald…he uses the force…oh wait…wrong Luke…)
