Fantasy Crystal Ball: Northern Trust Open

Ok, so last week, I said Vijay would came back strong. I was wrong. But, I was right when I said that Retief Goosen was a steal on the C-list despite never having played in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. That guess saved my week. If you had Dustin Johnson on your team, perhaps you are the inspiration for the NBC non-hit show Medium.
We move on this week, though, to Riviera. Ryo Ishikawa makes his PGA Tour debut. That's great and all, but if you want to win at Fantasy Golf, Ryo is of no mind to you.
On the A-list, I really like Mike Weir and Geoff Ogilvy here. Weir could've won at Pebble if he had a final round to unrattle Dustin Johnson and he plays very well at Riviera. He has won this event twice in '03 and '04. Just put him on the team. Geoff Ogilvy is a thinking man on a thinking man's course. Nevermind that he has four missed cuts in six starts at Riviera. He's going to do well this week.
For the four man B-team, start with Jeff Quinney. Two Riviera starts and two Riviera top 10s. Easy equation. I like Aaron Baddeley here, too. He has a track record longer than Quinney's of solid success at Riviera. He is a horse for this course.
As always, I'll retain last week's winner in Dustin Johnson.
At the back of the pack, I am going to keep Retief Goosen in protest of the Pebble Beach event ending after 54 holes. Goose isn't great at Riviera, but he's angling to play American events sooner this year than in previous seasons. He's hungry to get back to top form regardless of where he has to play to do it. And go with Luke Donald. He has three top 15 finishes in his last four Riviera starts.

no love for Phil-baby ?
Come on – he LOVES Riviera !!
Watch out for Heath Slocum
4 missed cuts don’t mean anything ? You’ve been talking to Kelly Tilghman, haven’t you !?!! Ogilvy must WANT to win this week…since KT believes that he wins every time he decides he wants to. :-)

I can’t be a believer again until he wins.

lol
we have a guy who calls into the radio show once in a while who is a real trip. back when Tiger was changing his swing and was in that “slump”, he would call in and tell us that “Tiger Woods is a CHUMP, man – he’s a LOOOOser. When’s the last time he won anything ?” He’s one of the most fun callers we get.

Mickelson leads?! What in the world is going on. There’s no way he turned this stuff around in a week.
