Q-School Final Exam is Today for PGA and LPGA Tours
Both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour close out their Q-School tournaments today. As mentioned in our preview post, the ladies are playing for status in three different categories on Tour in 40 spots. (Here's my post from last year to explain how this works.) The fellas are playing for the top 25 and ties for one specific criteria, lumped in with the graduates of the Nationwide Tour.
With a few holes left to play in the LPGA's tournament, it looks like there will be a huge playoff for two spots. At time of print, there are 11 players vying for the 19th and 20th place spots. The LPGA Tour has playoffs for their spots, so it could be very dramatic.
Meanwhile, Amanda Blumenherst is basically a lock to get onto the Tour next year. The question that remains for her is if she can win Q-School outright.
Friend and Twitter pal Nicole Hage is on the sunny side of the ladies' Q-School as well.
On the PGA Tour side, they are a little behind the LPGA Tour, but close to the end as well. It looks like -9 or -10 will be the number this year. Rickie Fowler is comfortably inside that line right now at -12 through 15 holes.
The leader is Troy Merritt, who is at -20. He won in Mexico on the N'Wide Tour this year, but finished 39th on the money list. He may well be the medalist.
Regardless of who wins, Adam Schupak deserves a pat on the back for digging up enjoyable, random facts about the Q-School participants in the bios.
We'll update this post as the final results roll in from both sites.
