Molinari Bros. Punch Tickets to the Masters Together
Edoadro and Francesco Molinari can officially punch their tickets to the Masters in April. Both are inside the top 50 in the world, thus earning an invite to the first major of the year. They are the first brothers duo to accomplish the feat since Joe and Jumbo Ozaki did it in 2000.
Edoardo began the year at 653rd in the world, but with a fourth place finish at the South African Open, he secured his place inside the top 50 and his trip to Augusta National.
The brothers Molinari also won at the World Cup just recently.

how the heck do you go from 653 to top 50 playing on the Challenge Tour ? He and his brother won a team event, and he’s had one good finish on the Euro Tour…this past weekend.

Well, he won the order of merit for the Challenge Tour, but then came up in the last few weeks and did very well for this first three weeks on the Euro Tour.

ok – three top 20 finishes – I can understand that – but there were almost no top players in any of those tournaments. Strength of field, those were Fall Season events.
He just spent the year on the CHALLENGE TOUR ! A step below the Nationwide Tour. I don’t care that he won the Order of Merit for that tour – it’s still the minor leagues. He shouldn’t be ranked inside the top 150 at the very least – and that’s if you just take the top 75 on the PGA and Euro Tours.
Just further evidence that the World Rankings are screwed up.

I feel ya – I still think the OWGR is awful.

Yeah it doesn’t make any sense. I’ve had a bit of computer trouble but will put up my rankings again shortly that were here in the summer. Tiger blew away the field last year (not surprising).
Been a Reds fan since 1996 and am desperate for a playoff run.
