New LPGA Commish Mike Whan Says 'Hello, Ladies' in Video
Mike Whan, new commissioner of the LPGA Tour, filmed a video about a month ago that was intended for LPGA Tour members as a bit of an introduction. He talks a little about his professional accomplishments, but opens up a bit about his personal life too. Whan seems like a great dad, but definitely not living some kind debonaire lifestyle. (That's probably a good thing.)
If you can block out that the background looks kind of like they used a green screen - and, really, this is nothing compared to what I've seen from Golfalot - then the video is actually kinda interesting.

This is “strange or unique” ?
Third person…in golf ?
I’ve been forced to go to “motivational seminars” that started off like this. They usually ended up with me not coming back after the first break. I’m so sick of cliche’s and alliteration.
If you’re going to do something like this – record it and send it out as an email – DON’T post it on YouTube for the world to see.
I’ll wait for him to actually get to work in January and then see what he DOES – this stuff is lame.

"this ball will fit in that fairway"
there you go again... 8-)
Who said he didn’t send it out as an email? Is it possible someone on the receiving end of that email was responsible for posting it on YouTube, not Whan?
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.
Everything ends up on YouTube these days, whether it was meant to or not.
Actually, Court, I think it’s a decent video. Bear in mind that it was meant for LPGA players who probably felt that Carolyn Bivens didn’t care about people as much as business, and who watched the Tour schedule drop as low as nine tournaments earlier this year. They also probably felt that they were being forgotten in the shuffle. Whan’s video comes across as motivational for a reason; the ladies need some encouragement right now.
One thing I think we learned from the Bivens ouster is how much the LPGA depends first on relationships with its sponsors, second on marketing. This is different from the PGA, which seems to be exactly the opposite. That’s the other thing I hear from this video – a re-emphasis on relationships throughout the Tour.
All things considered, not bad. It’s hard not to sound cheesy when talking to a camera.
