Around SBN: Transfer Rumor: Bolton On Verge of First Signings

Now The Question Is: Is Jaimee Grubbs Happy For Outing Tiger?

The tabloids and rumor sites have defeated Tiger Woods.  With Us Weekly's Web release of an voicemail from Tiger Woods to Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, they got him.

Woods apologized for the "transgressions" on his website and for letting his family and supporters down.

What do you say to that?

It's not like anyone should be happy about this.  Infidelity in a marriage is not something to cheer.  Being unfaithful is certainly worse when there are two very young children that will likely be impacted by this revelation.  Society shouldn't be cheering this admission of guilt.

Are Us Weekly, TMZ, and the like happy that they got Woods to admit and apologize?

Are you happy to know that Tiger made a marital mistake?  I don't believe that I am.

What about Jaimee Grubbs?  In the Us Weekly story done on her initial revelation of this affair, she said, "I hope he can forgive me for doing this and I know he probably can't.

"Whatever happens with Elin, I hope Tiger and I can reconnect and remain good friends."

She had to have said that tongue-in-cheek.  There is absolutely no way that Tiger and her will remain acquaintances - much less good friends - after this.

Grubbs took the pay day, rumored to be some $150,000, to tell her story to Us Weekly.  Had she contacted Woods and told him about the situation, she likely could have extorted ten times that amount from him to keep this quiet.

This was about Grubbs wanting to cash in, but also remain in the public spotlight.  Having a few hundred thousand people may have known her for appearing on the VH1 reality show Tool Academy must have given her the high of being a minor celebrity.  Now, she can experience that high in the way that meth makes pot look like children's aspirin.

Meanwhile, Tiger is forced to publicly admit something that he didn't want to reveal.  Now we all know that Tiger is not perfect and that his marriage may be on rocky footing.  Great.

The thing about all of the rumor-mongering and speculation done among friends and on the Web was that it had to be at least partially rooted in skepticism about the authenticity of these rumors.  Obviously, there were people in the know, but they weren't saying a peep.  Rumors are interesting because they allow us to take them and run with them in our imaginations.  The circus around the story made it captivating because none of it was really real - just a preposterous sideshow compared to real problems like Afghanistan, Dubai going into default, and health care reform.

When rumor becomes truth - a sad truth like this one - then it is deflating and depressing.

With the revelation, it seems clear that Woods' "other woman" did not have much of an interest in trying to patch up things with Tiger or even bother to sustain their tryst.  How does that make Elin look?  Courageous, as Woods said about her actions after the car accident?  More supportive of her errant man?  The public will now take the opportunity to examine the character of Jaimee Grubbs, Elin Nordegren, and Tiger Woods as individuals.

So Jaimee, no, you and Tiger will not remain good friends.  Congratulations on facilitating a shocking admission.

I'm not usually this cynical but...............

So much for the “THEORY” of the faithfull hoping that he was headed out to Wal Mart at 2:30 am in the morning to get diapers in his bare feet. My mother always told us as kids to make sure we had clean underware on when driving off somewhere, just in case we got into a accident or something. I guess she was right as it seems TW has plenty of “Dirty Laundry” to attend too…jumpn

So what did we learn....

If you’re happy or sad about Tiger’s admission you’ve raised him to too high a position in your life. The only people that should be happy are the ones at TMZ, The National Enquirer and any other outlet that made money from this. The only sad are Tiger’s friends and family. A sports fan is nothing more than a spectator, a person in the audience who pays for the privilege of watching a performance. When the show is over, you part ways. The performer has your money…he’s done his job, and you have the memories, perhaps enhanced by an autograph. Because Tiger Woods is a superior performer, he’s built a huge audience. I’m no fan of marital infidelity and a don’t condone it, but it’s an exercise in futility to apply my standards to someone I don’t know. Here’s my lame “brush with celebrity” story: In 1995 (?) I was working as an Asst. Supt at a golf course in Oregon. It was the sight of college tournament. Stanford with Casey Martin ( a local boy), Tiger Woods, Notah Begay et al. BYU was also there. Johnny Miller’s son was on that team. It was in the early Spring and the tournament was delayed because of frost…. Tiger walked out on our practice green…here it comes… Yours truly called across the green, “Please wait until we can put a little water on to take care of the frost.” He smiled and went to the adjacent practice range where I watched him drill 3 iron (that’s for you pal) after 3 iron, all straight and true into the rising fog. We used yellow range balls. I spent the morning painting bag stands but around 11, I caught up with him on number 15, a fairly narrow 5 par with bunkers left and right about 260 yards from the tee. My drives were always short of those bunkers…. You know the rest. Our heros should be those who helped to positively shape our lives, not any performer no matter how gifted. Thanks for tuning in, that will conclude my story (this one is all fact, especially the never reaching the bunkers part) and my comments on “The Tiger Woods – Black Friday Event” Ryan did you have to say “tongue in cheek”…. “Lord, forgive me for that” – Larry the Cable Guy

It’s really kind of amazing how you can manage to get everything wrong(even a blind hog finds an acorn sometimes)….you said…

I am happy because TW finally told the truth(partially at least)…it has nothing whatsoever to do with Tiger’s position in my life, or lact thereof actually. And like I said in the other thread, this is a sad day for TMZ, NE, and all the other “gossip rags” because they could have milked this story for months just so long as Tiger didn’t confess. And because of these 2 factors, Tiger’s family should also be happy.
ps. regarding your “brush with celebrity” story…TMI

Touche'

I see your point, but being happy with someone’s misfortune isn’t my kind of happy. In a fashion it’s like being happy when a missing child’s body is found… Maybe it’s more relief. Tiger Woods in Oregon? Yeah, I’m sorry about that…. I guess I was trying to show some other posters who often mention their connection with pros, that I too have been “up close and personal” with a professional golfer, but of course this was so peripheral and dumb…we’re sure not “buds”….

by pingforever on Dec 3, 2009 5:40 AM EST up reply actions

I’m glad you see my point….perhaps this could be the start of us burying the hatchet? But before we do, I have to correct you…again!(people hate being corrected). First of all, I never said or implied that I was happy with Tiger’s “misfortune”; and more importantly, this is NOT misfortune. This all has to do with choices Tiger has made, nothing to do with bad luck or misfortune.
Please feel free to post all the personal stories you like; my call of TMI on you was just to show you how foolish you were in calling that on me.

Calling me foolish isn’t exactly a good starting strategy for “burying the hatch”. But in my life time I’ve been called so much worse… There’s a very descriptive term often used in Speech Pathology, “logorrhea”… Google it. Merry Christmas!

What she did was sleazy, but not illegal. The second option you outline clearly is. Not everyone can see themselves crossing that line, Ryan.

I know it's cliché

But I feel bad for the Woods’ children. It’s not like Tiger’s edging close to golf retirement, and he’s going to be in the public eye for a long time. So when these kids are in high school, they are going to be well aware of their father’s mistakes from this decade.

Since when does the “virtues of privacy” outweigh the sanctity of marriage? Not in my World it doesn’t. Tiger Woods said, “there’s no truth to all the rumors and allegations” So I guess he wasn’t speaking the TRUTH when he made that statement either.. I hear people saying that its the bimbo’s fault ? yeah right It was her fault all 31 months. she was 21 and he was 31 when they met, who should know better ? sheeesh…..AND “HE WAS THE ONE THAT WAS MARRIED NOT HER” Mr. Woods has nobody to blame but himself. The worst thing you can do in the game of golf or marrage is to CHEAT. If you get caught in either situation, then you have nobody to blame but yourself. On behalf of myself and the boys here at TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. we say, "Shame on You Tiger, we have lost all respect. " jumpn/progolf

The "Cats" out of the bag...so to speak

Em66 brother,,,Crazy stuff isn’t it !!!! Remember all those many months blogging on TGC when you and I and 3irons and a few others dared to question Tigers credability and all we ever got in return for it was being called HATERS. So much for the “Fringe Fans” I never had a problem with TW personaly as you know. What I took issue with was TGC and all of their groveling and drooling 24/7 all TW all the time and always belittling most of the other players. Chuckle Heads like Rich Lerner and Kelly Tilgman good lawwdy. Many times in the blogs I always blamed them for too many eggs in one basket and always over sensationalizing everything TW did on and off the course. Well here we are. I must say that even though I didn’t always agree with what 3irons had to say sometimes. He was SPOT ON with most of his comments and called em as he saw em and all he ever got was grief about it from everyone ( not from you and I of course) Turns out he was correct all along. Anyway TW deserves whatever Elin has to throw at him whatever the result. She is no Gold Digger and has done nothing wrong AND is pretty well off by all standards in todays society. Personaly I think she should dump him and find a nice guy with less hangs ups over privacy ( now we all know why ) and more integrity. Tomorrow night I am getting together with one of my PGA neighbors, “wink wink” and I think you know whom I mean. Should be interesting to hear his and his wifes view on the topic. Hey EM66,,,remember a few weeks ago in TGC blog, I commented that my partners and I would not be renewing our contract with NIKE golf equipment come years end. WOW talk about good timing. Have you heard the Jesper Parnivik statement……He pummels Tiger…..here is part of it……." I would be especially sad about it since I’m kind of — I really feel sorry for Elin — since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him," Parnevik said. “We probably thought he was a better guy than he is. I would probably need to apologize to her and hope she uses a driver next time instead of the 3-iron.” He also said “It’s a private thing of course,” he said. “But when you are the guy he is, the world’s best athlete, you should think more before you do stuff. . . And maybe not just do it, like Nike says.” Wow….here we go!!!

by em66 on Dec 2, 2009 6:18 PM EST up reply actions

Thanks progolf/jumpn/em66…you’ve restored my faith in humanity. As for this portion of the article, I already addressed it in my reply to pingforever, but it deserves repeating…
“It’s not like anyone should be happy about this. Infidelity in a marriage is not something to cheer. Being unfaithful is certainly worse when there are two very young children that will likely be impacted by this revelation. Society shouldn’t be cheering this admission of guilt.

Are Us Weekly, TMZ, and the like happy that they got Woods to admit and apologize?"

….No one is cheering the infidelity, but plenty of people are more than willing to overlook it because it is TW. I just saw a poll on ESPN where 76% of the people didn’t think this affair would hurt Tiger. I am happy that TW finally told the truth and admitted his transgressions, although he never really said the word adultery or extramarital affair.

WHY IN THE WORLD SHOULDN’T OUR SOCIETY BE CHEERING THIS ADMISSION OF GUILT? Are you saying we should be encouraging people to lie and cover-up their sins/transgressions? Hopefully you misspoke….?
And finally as I’ve said repeatedly today, and what should be obvious is that US Weekly, TMZ, and National Enquirer, et al. are NOT happy that TW apologized. They just lost the juiciest story of the year.

1st impressions

I truly wish this hadn’t happened to TW. I wouldn’t wish this on any man. TW just always rubbed me the wrong way from the first time I talked to him. There was just something about him that didn’t ring true. Always a little too smug,…pompous if you will, and this was before he’d ever won on Tour. Sadly, the 1st impression is uasually correct. The old saying goes that " a Tiger doesn’t change it’s stripes". I sincerely hope in this case , he does just that. He is great for the game. He’s got a lot of apologizing to do. How much do y’all think the “guilt” Christmas gift to Elin will be valued at ? Kobe paid $ 4 mill for a ring to his wife, and Tiger could buy Kobe 10 times over. I’m bettin’ it’ll be something massive,…like an island,…say Australia !!!! LMAO………………………………….Z.

by 3IRONS on Dec 2, 2009 7:25 PM EST up reply actions

I’ll take you at your word, that you wouldn’t wish this on any man, but that does go against about everything you’ve ever written about Woods… I’ve always though Phil Mickelson was smug….When he was on top of the rankings David Duval seemed that way too. I think a super-sized ego is a “sine qua non” for a superstar. I don’t "humble would be a word you’d attach to Nicklaus, Hogan, Trevino or Palmer in his prime. Although it’s not the most attractive trait, smugness (?) and pomposity may be the difference between journeyman and superstar.

Ping,…on the contrary. I may detest TW’s attitude, but I’ve always respected his game. However,as a man, I can still feel sorry for the schmuck even if he is a pompous ,arrogant ass ! If this moves him to an attitude adjustment (very big if !), then maybe he can patch up his image and become a real professional. Really, that’s all it would take for me to respect him. He needs to show a little humility and respect for the game. It’s always been about the game for me.

courtgolf,
I just got back from golfing all day, and I have about a dozen posts that I want to answer, but I’m going to start with this post of yours(you should feel honored…lol)…and since my senstive buddy, em66, is in this thread, I’m going to try to be real civil. I’m guessing that you are not married and don’t have any kids? If this is correct, please don’t read any further and just accept my apologies…you will learn these lessons when you do marry and have kids.
OK, so if you’re still reading, then you are married and have kids. Of course you are correct that the Parneviks are not to blame for any of this. But we apologize to our kids all the time for things we are not to blame for…and this nanny is just like a member of the family. I have had baby-sitters from 20-25 years ago come back and visit us after they were married and have their own children. It is NOT ridiculous to feel bad about setting Elin up with Tiger….it is natural, you want what’s best for your kids. I used to joke with one of my daughters who loved golf and Tiger saying I wished she would marry TW…I wasn’t really joking, I would have loved it. But as a father, if my son-in-law cheated on my daughter like TW did, my response would make Jesper’s pale. And while TW is not a serial killer, bank robber, or child molester, he is an adulterer and to a father-in-law, that is just as bad. And this is not nonsense….if Jesper felt or responded any differently than he did, I would think less about him.
Now try to put yourself in JP’s place and answer honestly if you would feel bad or not for someone you love, Elin, having to go through this?

This is indeed disappointing for many people and me as well. I’ll in no way defend him on any level for his mistakes and yes he deserves the ridicule he’s getting. Hopefully he can repair the damage done to his family. I hope and believe that Tiger will learn a profound lessen from this. Truth be told, Tiger probably needed to get knocked down and we are all humbled at some point in our life. Maybe this will lead him to a deeper understanding and appreciation of his God given gifts and help him become a better man. His friends will stand by him and I believe the majority of his fans will forgive this and continue to support him as long as he doesn’t continue make the same mistakes again and again. The media needs to forget about Tiger for a minute and understand his family needs time to heal. Tiger is like a cockroach...

Where there’s one, you can be sure there are others…. Without question he’s not the only philanderer (wonderfully civil euphemism) out there. Please don’t think I’m in any way justifying his behavior. In the early 90’s I attended a then Hogan Tour event. As Mike McCullough was walking off the 18th green he took time to hit on a lady teacher friend of mine…. I don’t know if he was married at the time, so that may not apply… A SEAL team mate of mine used to say his marriage license expired 500 miles from Norfolk, VA…. I had a more expansive story about that, but I have learned my TMI lesson.

My wife and I have been batting this around for the last few days… While this is some what like Kobe’s “transgression”, it’s different in that we didn’t watch Kobe grow up. We didn’t see him shooting hoops on Mike Douglas when he was two and half or three, or in grade school… We’ve seen a child run the gamut from innocence to moral corruption, and it ain’t pretty….

What surprises me...

is that he was able to carry on this affair for as long as he did without being exposed. Thirty-one months is a long time! I had always thought that he was constantly surrounded by media and others “looking for a story”, which would make it difficult to pull of something like this, but obviously he found a way.

Sidebar: pingforever, I liked your stories…they are not TMI…please continue to share!

Back to Easingwold

Back up a couple of clicks and re-read Easingwold’s last comment. At this point we’re all armchair psychologist, making guesses at Tiger’s motivation to “be with” other women. Could it be that Tiger’s marriage wasn’t all that happy, that Elin may look great but may not be the companion he needed? I’m sure there would be some that would say his tech ignorance was driven by a subconscious need to get caught. It’s not all that outlandish a concept to believe that a marriage relationship can change after a woman has children. Tiger Woods seems too measured to engage in a risky activity on a whim. But the “wink-wink, nudge, nudge” ego driven skirt chaser theory is so much more fun…

Very true on all parts (1) we don’t know (2) we don’t know Elin (fact is – show me the hottest woman in the world and there is someone out there who is tired of her stuff) and (3) there are always women willing to throw themselves at a man with power and/or money…and some are very good at it.

Psychologists will be studying this one for awhile…..I even heard one this morning say that Tiger is a “sex addict”…….argggg! Whatever the final verdict turns out to be, I think we all are going to be scratching our heads for a long time. Many will never be satisfied and some have no problem with his actions, that will never change. I’m sure his fans will accept him back and he may pick up right where he left off, but for others he is scarred forever. I think this qualifies for the “saddest” story of the year.

I’ll give him the “Cum back player of the year” right now ! LMAO Wonder how the village idiot Macer feels about that ? Notice how all the effen know it all Woods suck-ups have disappeared ? Right on cue too. It’ll be the same when he retires and they all go back to the NBA or whatever. Gotta really piss’em off that Woods only goes after white trash. Wonder why that is ?………………………..Z.
