You Had Way Too Much Time to Play Golf Last Month
Golf Course Industry Magazine happily reported that the number of "playable hours" on golf courses across the United States was up 36% for the month of November over this time last year.
And thanks to all of that extra time, the total number of "playable hours" year-to-date is up 1% over last year!
That means that you, American golfer, had 1% more time this year than last to play golf somewhere in our great nation.
Unfortunately, with golf rounds taking longer than ever, you probably didn't notice or take advantage.

Good thought, Ryan. We need a new stat
You would take number of rounds multiplied by time on the course. For example, take 500M rounds times 330 minutes (5 1/2 hours) and come up with a product.
If golfers continue to get slower, rounds played could DECREASE but minutes played would INCREASE. Pisses off a lot golfers playing behind those guys, but it gives the stats guys something to do…

A 4 ball takes about 4 hours and thats walking. Our typical 2 ball takes about 3 hours 15 minutes. But I am talking a normal golf course…modern Hotel courses here in the UK are cart paths almost 100 yards from green to the next tee. Perhaps the slow play is down to the standard of golfer allowed to play these tough tracks…break 100 first then think about playing them. A 5 hour round is a no no, for even the die hard player.
