This lady is way more likely to be suspected of steroid use than Doug Barron.

Ok – that’s pretty cool. I wonder how long she’s been doing things like that. (I can’t do a handstand or anything nearly like what she’s doing)

RB, I lay out a good case why steroids are very tempting to golfers on my site this morning.

As Court corrected me over there, however, we don’t know that Barron was abusing anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS). We are only assuming. I will also assume that HIPAA laws will prevent the Tour from telling us exactly what PEDs Barron was suspended for. Only Barron can tell us for sure – if he tells the truth.
But don’t think for a second that AAS’s couldn’t help a golfer. In fact, they very much could and it won’t surprise me one little bit when another golfer is caught.

I’m definitely in your corner, OMP. When the whole issue came up in 2007, I did quite a bit of research into the possible positive impact of PEDs in golf. It’s real despite a lot of dismissal. I just think that it’s ridiculous that this guy is the sacrificial lamb to prove that it does happen.

wow – now THAT’S not a huge leap. a “sacrificial lamb” ?? seriously ??? that’s crazy, RB. You just accused the PGA Tour of suspending a guy for failing a drug test JUST to prove that it can happen.

Depends on the substance he was caught using, Court. Perhaps Ryan meant that if the punishment did not fit the crime then Ballard was indeed a sacrificial lamb.

If there is only one first level of punishment for failing a test by the agreed on standards – how can the punishment not fit the crime ? Fail the test – 1 year suspension. There isn’t a great or lesser punishment.

Exactly – I didn’t mean that the Tour outed this guy to prove the point. I mean that a year suspension is kinda steep.
