Audio of 911 Call Reporting Tiger Woods Accident

The Florida Highway Patrol has released the audio of the 911 call made by Tiger Woods' neighbor of the accident at 2:25 on Friday morning.  The audio can be played using the audio player below, or by downloading the audio file here.

The call is some four minutes in length with some spaces in between.

The caller clearly sounds flustered by the accident.  He claims to have rushed outside to see what has happened.  The neighbor veifies it is a car accident and that the victim was not in the car - rather Woods was on the ground.

The neighbor then asks another person to get Woods water.

When fire and rescue connect with him, they ask him to verify that Woods was in fact on the ground.  The neighbor says that Woods is unconscious.

Another woman then calls out screaming, "What happened?!"

About halfway through the call, neighbor Jim Solomans' cell phone connection gives way.

Meanwhile, Woods has shunned a meeting with Florida Highway Patrol for a third consecutive day.

FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes said, "[Tiger Woods'] lawyer Mark Nejame contacted the Florida Highway Patrol to inform ... that the interview that was scheduled for today has been canceled."

Montes reiterated that the investigation is still open and that charges are pending.

In a statement on TigerWoods.com, Woods said, "This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again."

Further, he reiterated his wish to keep this matter private.

"This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be."

The 911 tape supports this being an accident. Nothing on the tape is at all incriminating.

TW The Man, TW The Brand

Perhaps the deepest lasting impact of the Tiger crash news explosion is that we’ve lost trust in Tiger Woods the brand. I remain an enormous fan of his golf ability. I can’t imagine that ever changing. But TW the brand has been severely damaged by his lack of talent in how he’s communicated to his fanbase.

Tiger the man is entitled to all the privacy he wants, demands, and that the constitution will allow him. We all have the power of free will, of choice, and we live with the consequences of those decisions.

Tiger the brand had another mis-hit with today’s poorly worded statement. A combo of bad timing and off center messaging produced more bad results. The 3 main constituents for TW the brand are his fanbase, his sponsors, and the media. This 3 some creates an ecosystem that drives that part of his business and rev streams. The ecosystem wants to know “why” and “how” and until we do this story will just not go away.

We want to know this, and feel we deserve it because what has transpired so clearly does not fit the brand we’ve been overtly sold and bought into all these years.

This incident has peeled back the curtain on how little respect and affection the brand of Tiger has for his audience ecosystem. That surprises the hell out of me and that makes me a little angry at him and at me. I may be even more surprised that I am this surprised.

When a brand loses respect for its fans, and shows it so clearly it puts all its equity at risk. That’s just horrific business management.

Its a shame really. A little humility, transparency, and authenticity would go so far in a time like this. This ain’t rocket science. And we don’t expect to hear all the details. But when TW clamps down and goes into the control defense the full ecosystem smells blood and reacts, careening into assumptions and innuendo. We lose trust.

We lose trust. You lose credibility. That’s huge. That costs a lot of money.

Important sidenote: This event caused me to really internalize his quote about why he loves to go scuba diving: “because the fish don’t ask for autographs”. When I first heard that I figured he was kidding and being flippant and yet now I pretty much believe that this sums it up. TW has an astonishing lack of respect and affection for the engine that drives his brand: his fans, his sponsors, and the media. He doesn’t get it.

Get with it TW. You went to Stanford. You’re supposed to be smart. We feel a little bit like you hoodwinked us and we hate that. It isn’t too late. Time to get a few new caddies on the biz front and open up a bit. Communicate to your fans with some level of apparent sincerity. Punch it back in the fairway and grind it out, take the medicine.

this could be a great opportunity

A great post ? are you KIDDING ? “lost trust in the Tiger Woods Brand” ?? What kind of insane babble is that ?

The “audience ecosystem” ?? WTF ?? What does that even mean. That’st he kind of thing I would expect to hear out of Kelly Tilghman.

You know NOTHING. Tiger wrecked a car, broke a fire hydrant, hit a tree, and had to have emergency medical attention. That is ALL you know.

Caveat emptor, my friend. Let the buyer beware. If YOU put some sort of trust in Tiger Woods as a “brand” – that only shows YOUR gullibility. Tiger Woods is a golfer – a GREAT golfer. He doesn’t pretend to be anything else. If YOU chose to live your life according to what he does – that’s your fault – not his.

I’m assuming you’re kidding? No one could be that ignorant, but I’ll answer your questions anyway. Lost trust in TW’s Brand means the millions of dollars of endorsements he makes, His golfing ability may or may not be touched by this scandal, but TW the brand will DEFINITELY be affected. And TW probably makes 100 times more on endorsements than he does on the course.
And that’s not all we know. As tigerhead and I have chronicled in the other TW thread, we do know that the NE posted a story on Wed Nov 25th about TW’s alleged affair and 2 days later TW and his wife had a domestic dispute. Try to keep up here before posting your nonsense!

by niblic on Nov 30, 2009 11:22 AM EST up reply actions

“audience ecosystem” ?? Who talks like that ? Is there a dictionary I can buy to get definition of jibberish ?

Don’t hold your breath on any of this costing him a penny – unless he goes to jail – and last time I checked, you don’t go to jail for hitting a fire hydrant.

You believe the gossip rags if you choose. They have been sued and lost enough times to let me know that they are more interested in trying to ruin people’s lives than anything else.

Ya got me there, court, notice even I didn’t try to defend and/or explain the audience ecosystem quote…lol. And I believe it’s “gibberish”.
I can think of one very plausible scenario where TW loses half his stuff real easily, ie. Elin walks away from his cheating ass.
And in these economic down times, it’s very easy to think of other sponsors dropping or at least backing off from the TW Brand.
I believe the gossip rags, ie. NE and TMZ, as far as they’ve gone so far; no one has even implied that they have posted proof yet, but that is their MO, in other words they want to drag this out as long as they can. Stay tuned for whatever further evidence is revealed by them…I reserve the right to agree or disagree with them as the story evolves.

and you got mad at me for MY prediction of a law suit against the Enquirer ? :-)

it’s always a possibility…but I’m not going to hold my breath on Nike or any of his other endorsements that cash in on his name. They didn’t drop Jordan, and Tiger is the only other name of that stature in sports….no, not even LaBron James is there.

I didn’t get mad at you, I just pointed out how implausible it would be for TW to sue the NE….TW being such a private person, he would have to disclose so much information that it wouldn’t be worth it to him, especially since he has more money than God. Now this Rachel woman and her lawyer Allred, that’s a possibility.

I just got back from golfing all day and there are so many new posts to go through I really feel lost right now.

I was joking – knew you weren’t mad.

don’t forget – Tiger hopped on the white stallion and rode to defend Elin’s honor against that Irish tabloid.

how was the golf ? I got in one round in Florida on Saturday, and came home to cold, rainy weather.

No problem, em66 and I have has similar problems discerning when someone is joking of not.

Golf was great, but then the worst day of golf beats the best day of work. I don’t know how old you are (you sound fairly youngish…30-40?), but the good news is the older you get, the more you actually enjoy the game. I used to be fairly good when I was younger but I used to get so frustrated with the game. Now I literally suck, but I enjoy the game so much more.

by niblic on Dec 1, 2009 11:14 AM EST up reply actions

49….and the game STILL frustrates me. :-)

Hang in there…as bad as your game may be now, when you get to my age, you’ll wish you had it…lol.

One of our foursome didn’t show yesterday so they put this young buck with us….he hit the ball a friggin mile, had about 5-6 birdies, shot a legit 74, and was thoroughly miserable. I had about an 80, from the senior tees, meaning just barely behind the ladies, and thoroughly enjoyed myself with a natural birdie, as opposed to a Mul-bird, We take lots of mulligans and improve our lies and just generally have a great time….I know it’s not golf from a purist standpoint, but it’s a great game.

by niblic on Dec 1, 2009 12:49 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe that’s what I need to do. We played 6350 yards on Saturday and I kept the ball in play pretty well and shot 82. (still have a goal of breaking 80 this year) But when I play with my regular friends who hit it a lot farther than me, I tend to lose a lot of shots right. into the woods and the score goes way up.

It’s always a great game – but it’s still frustrating. I’m convinced that if I can have that one round where I never hit that “one good shot that brings you back”, I could quit this game. :-)

If you ever get to Vegas, let’s play together…as much as we may argue here on this board, I betcha we’d have a great time playing together.
My buddy from high school and his wife were visiting yesterday…we’ve been playing together for >45 years…we don’t even play for money but you’d never know it the way we compete. what a great game!

I guess your prediction wasn’t so ignorant after all….someone agrees with you…

“That Rachel Uchitel has reportedly offered to take a polygraph test is interesting as the National Enquirer has reportedly asked all of its sources on the Tiger Woods’ affair story to do the same; the Enquirer claims that all of its sources passed the polygraph tests.

When the story is published, Rachel Uchitel, who has reportedly retained the services of famed celebrity attorney Gloria Allerd, will certainly face even more scrutiny than she has received thus far. If she remains steadfast that she is not Tiger Woods’ mistress, it would seem logical that both Rachel Uchitel and Tiger Woods would pursue legal action against the National Enquirer"

The Accident

It is doubtful that the entire truth of the matter regarding The Accident will ever be known. The police report and hospital report are what is known at this time. Superstar athletes are not treated like ordinary citizens and they can hire attorneys and spin doctors to put the best possible explanation for damage control. Jack and Barbara Nicklaus have been without controversey their entire married life. Even the popular Palmer had a reputation with women. This is my first post and I love the guidelines for those who make comments.

“Even the popular Palmer had a reputation with women.”
Was that necessary?

by niblic on Nov 29, 2009 8:23 PM EST up reply actions

Probably no more or less necessary than saying the same about Tiger……

by tigerhead on Nov 29, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions

That’s why you get insulted, tigerhead….you just say the stupidest things! The article is about Tiger, of course it’s necessary to say that about Tiger. Why is it necessary to impugn the reputation of an 80 yo man who was married for over 50 years to one woman who is now deceased? Go ahead….I’ll wait..maybe you can use Tiger’s excellent team of scurrilous lawyers to craft your own clever reply?

by niblic on Nov 29, 2009 8:45 PM EST up reply actions

Well since you asked to politely, I’ll reply. Macer is making the point that “if” (and it’s still an “if”) Tiger is found to be guilty of straying from his marriage, he wouldn’t be the first high profile golfer to do so. Nothing more than that nibby, he’s simply making an argument and a point. May I suggest you use your intellect to make arguments rather than insults, just works better.

by tigerhead on Nov 29, 2009 8:53 PM EST up reply actions

See you agree with me again, and you don’t even realize it! By your own explanation (or lack thereof) in your post, you prove that Macer’s inclusion of the unproven accusation against AP was NOT necessary. Macer could have and should have said just wnat you did…“if Tiger is found to be guilty of straying from his marriage, he wouldn’t be the first high profile golfer to do so”. Thank you dickhead, if I ever need legal representation, I’ll call you.

Yea, you told me. You win nibby, I succumb to your superior intellect. Thanks for setting me straight and showing me how to behave like a classy gentleman such as yourself. Good night.

You’re welcome….now was that so hard? Not that I believe you, I’m sure given the chance, you would act like your hero/namesake, ie. cheat and then try to cover it up.

Just when we leave TGC “elvisliveson” posts this gem….
“"Macer, forget about Tiger. I think you owe everyone here an explanation of your unhealthy obsession with Arnold Palmer that causes you to constantly spread lies about him. Either that, or your latest statement is just another product of your child-like stupidity and logic and you innocently confused Arnold with Doug Sanders. Man, you need help. Your unfounded hatred of Palmer and misstatements about his life and career demonstrated once again, this time in a thread that is basically a warning against people jumping to conclusions, is the height of lunacy. No one should take you seriously, especially when you TRY to act open-minded when it comes to things like xenophobia and LPGA tour. Your are the worst of all hypocritical simpletons.”

….Macer, the forum is all yours…we await your reply and/or apology.

The Accident

macer,…I see you still haven’t found the way to get the Colt to fire! You’re such an idiot. Only you would diss The King in trying to save your boy from the public scorn he will endure, albeit briefly. AP would never have been stupid enough to hook up with a NYC hose monkey in Australia. The odds of both being in the same hotel, on the same dates, 5,000 miles from America are incalculable ! Now, let’s hope they bury this dirt as it doesn’t do the game any good. Let’s hope too, that Woods starts acting like a man and a professional insted of this entitled pompous ass he really is. How do you just stiff the FSP for 3 days and then say it’s a [rivate matter. Who the hell does he think he is. Movon on…………………………..Z.

TW the Man, TheBrand

You’ve nailed Mr.Woods. Dead, solid…..perfect. I’ve always said Woods was a phony, and was more or less, I was alone in my contempt for him. I knew him, played against him and this post mirrors what I know about Woods. Great player, but sooooo disingenuious. I sincerely hope this jolts him ,and jolts him hard, back to reality. Because he is good for the game, when at his best attitude wise. Unfortunately, we didn’t see much of that in 2009. Maybe Arnie should give him a call and chew his ass ! Just sayin’………Z

The Plot Thickens

Well, This week will certainly prove to interesting. Will there be a search warrant issued by the FHP ? Will TMZ and NE dig deeper ? Will tiger play in his own tournament this week ? Why was such a high profile lawyer hired ? Will TW play in his own tournament this week ? We shal see…jumpn

Plot thickens

JJ, indeed it does. Hollywood flakes need this type of lawyer to sweep the dirt under the rug. This “new” mouth-piece is the dude that got a client off after he alledgedly threw his girlfriend out of a 20 story building. Just the type a model citizen and a hero like Woods would need to handle a “private” (sic) matter. Woods stock is plummeting faster than BHO’s approval ratings. Although BHO will sink sharply after tomorrow’s announced troop increase to Afghanistan. Change we can believe in,……more Hollywood fantasy. It just keeps getting better. Woods arrogance knows no bounds.Wonder how Nike sales are going ? LMAO……………………….z.
