The Curse of Donald Trump?
The LPGA Tour Championship has been on hold since Friday afternoon due to weather problems. It is now Sunday and, rather than seeing the last 30 players duke it out for the title after playing 54 holes already, instead we have most of the field waiting to tee it up for their second rounds. Play will not resume today before noon Central Time.
For the last several years, the LPGA's final event were played here in Palm Beach County, Florida - where we have seen no rain and at most had partly cloudy skies since Thursday morning. After all the anger at how Carolyn Bivens handled the negotiations for the ADT last year, did the company or Donald Trump (host of the tournament) pay someone to seed clouds in Texas so the LPGA Tour Championship be in the state it is now?
Cue the sarcastic laughter. Seriously, if Player of the Year wasn't on the line, do you think the LPGA would have called the tournament already?

i think they would continue for several reasons, first, the race for the top 80 and fully exempt status for next year, second the race for the top 40 and fully exempt status for two years and finally the vare trophy for scoring average is so close the LPGA has had to go out four decimal places just to even see who is leading, and every round played counts. The vare trophy is so close that you have to play as close to a complete tournament as you can to give those who have a shot at it the fairest possible chance to win it.

Yeah, there’s a lot of motivation to get this thing done like dbagley mentioned: money list, POY, it’s the last tournament, exempt status, Vare Trophy, etc. Lots to be determined. And it would be really bad PR for the Tour Championship to officially not be played.

I agree
It would give the golf media something else to whine about.

If it's this big of a deal...
…then FINISH the tournament and do it right. If you have to play until Tuesday, you play until Tuesday. The Turkey doesn’t have to be cooked until Thursday. ;-)

Caddy Larry
Has pointed out that players are having trouble re-booking plane reservations. It’s Thanksgiving week and flights are full.

On Tuesday ? We’re talking about 30 players. After the 2nd round, they were to cut to 70 and ties, then to 30 after the 3rd round. How many of those 30 actually fly commercial airlines ? Seems like a pretty weak excuse for such a big tournament.

Most fly commercial airline. The don’t make PGA Tour money.
Truth has a well-known liberal bias.

They're playing 54 holes
Not 72. This is the LPGA not the PGA Tour. I bet most of them fly commercial. If you read Larry’s blog at the time of the Mexico tournaments, there are many tales of golfers getting separated from their clubs.
I used to fly 60-100,000 miles a year, most of which was to Los Angeles. On the flights I traveled on at one time or enough were at least 3-4 rappers I don’t remember the names of, and actors and actresses that included Nell Carter, Lou Ferigno, Elke Sommer, Rosiland Chao, Jonathan Winters, etc. A long time ago my brother and mother got to meet Muhammad Ali on a domestic flight less than 18 months after his first fight with Joe Frazier.

The tournament was scheduled for 72, not 54. If this tournament was a big enough deal (and I really don’t get all the hoopla over PoY other than it’s been a usable misdirection for xxx Golf Channel) they would do what it took to get in all 72 holes.
I know they’re close, but Houston is still technically inside the borders of the United States. It’s a little easier to get flights than it is from Mexico. Your point does have merit, though, since they are going home and not to another tournament.

But it is thanksgiving week. Most if not all flights are booked, and with all the rain they had, i should know i got dumped on too, playing 72 holes was just not possible. As it is many players and other personel are finding it difficult having to stay over for monday because of the aforementioned travel problems. Anyway, even though the event has been reduced to 54 holes, there is still plenty on the line, as i mentioned earlier. We shouldn’t be whining, after all there was a point earlier this year when we didn’t even know if this event would be held.

it’s a busy week at the airport for sure – but Wednesday is the biggest travel day. not that it matters.
