Best Wishes for Joey Sindelar
Joey Sindelar remains hospitalized at Sonoma Valley Hospital, according to PGA.COM and the AP, after suffering a pulmonary embolism during yesterday's round of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Sindelar was on the fifth hole yesterday when he started complaining of dizziness and Golf Channel cameras taped him leaving the course on a cart with him receiving oxygen and talking to officials.
Sindelar, 51, was seven under par and in contention during the season ending Champions Tour event when he became ill.

that's horrible
I have had a pulmonary embolism. I have never been in more pain — every breath felt like a knife in the ribs.

Sherman set the wayback machine to 2005
I suffered a PE back then. A saddle emboli which has a particularly high mortality rate. I was hospitalized for 10 days.

In my case, I had a blood clot in my leg. A portion of the clot “broke loose” and traveled up to my lung, where it stopped. Regardless of the pain, it could have gone to my heart or brain, either of which are generally fatal — I guess I got lucky, huh? Once the clot is dissolved (heparin and coumadin are the drugs of choice) there’s no continuing treatment other than I take aspirin regularly to help prevent unwanted clotting.
