David Feherty is Going to Show Erin Andrews How the Job is Done!
Believe it or not, David Feherty has some free time on his hands. With CBS Sports being done golf telecasts for the PGA Tour season, he's not doing tournaments. So, instead, he's now going to be a sideline reporter.
He's going to be doing the Navy game this Saturday against Rice for CBS College Sports. Given that Feherty is smarter, sexier, and better at riding a bike than Erin Andrews, I think Feherty will take the ESPN bombshell to school.
Feherty talked with the WaPo's Mids Insider Camille Powell in anticipation of the gig. He clearly has the game down.
I'm hoping they're not looking for cutting-edge commentary from the sidelines. Because I watch Phil Simms and Jim Nantz and Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson, and I hear that the quarterback has fumbled in the pocket — I'm looking at his uniform and thinking those are tight pants, where the hell is the pocket? And what's he fumbling for? His car keys?
Apparently, though, Feherty will see limited action on the sidelines. Or maybe not?
Really, I'm not there for any color commentary on football. All though we may end up with some. I don't know.
In truth, Feherty is there because of his work with his Troops First Foundation, the USO, and other like organizations. He seems very dedicated to showing appreciation for what our soldiers do and sacrifice.
The subject makes him very passionate, though. And that sometimes causes him to tell a joke that has the punch line of killing the third person in the line of succession for the Presidency of this country. Or, something like this.
Many of the Hollywood types who play fake heroes in their day jobs are responsible for the demonization of our armed forces, which is really a shame.
If you were forced to watch Disney's abominable Pearl Harbor, you get why Feherty said what he did.

This could be a lot of fun if they can find a Midshipman player with a good sense of humor and is quick enough wit to explain football to Feherty.
As cute as Erin Andrews is, I still have no use for sideline reporter-ettes and their canned questions.

If there is going to be a keyhole involved in this Feherty experiment, I am going to be very upset.
