Christina Kim's Quick Round With Randall Mell
Golf Channel's Randall Mell is doing a "Quick 18" style segment with LPGA Tour players. This week, he nabbed Christina Kim for the interview.
Christina was pretty effervescent - per usual - but seemed to be a little reserved in speaking about her appearance in this Friday's ESPN The Magazine Bodies issue. That seemed to be more a result of the magazine not hitting news stands yet than anything. Apparently, she has gotten some grief for agreeing to appear in the issue. I don't see the point of that, especially since someone with star power like Dwight Howard is appearing in it as well.
Kim still appears pretty stung by the criticism levied against her following the Solheim Cup. I was awfully supportive here, but Kim has said that she hasn't read anything written about her in five weeks. (Maybe she'll read this?)
But, Kim means business now when it comes to people defaming her good name. She mentions to Mell about a libel lawsuit she is engaged in over an incident with a Korean paper misrepresenting her words.
It's not especially revealing in terms of new information, but I did get the sense that all that was said of her after Solheim really has gotten under her skin. I hope not. She's one of my favorite players and always great to talk to when we cross paths.

I think CK needs to review the tapes from ‘05. Her behavior at this year’s Solheim Cup was WAY over the top compared to ‘05. There is exuberance, which we all love in her, and there was unnecessary and borderline poor sportsmanship behavior this year. I don’t think anybody thought it was intended to be that way – it just was.
Can’t really feel sorry for her with her complaints about what was said about her after her behavior at the Solheim. If you put yourself out in front of people like that – you don’t get to demand that people only say nice things.
That law suit still cracks me up. All the complaining Americans do about Korean players and how some have trouble speaking English – which gets others upset at the players being picked on. Now a Korean publication admits to intentionally mistranslating some of her comments ? By the way – if they admitted that they intentionally mistranslated the statment – why is it still in the courts ? Write a retraction and a check…ultimately, that’s what these things are about anyway.
It’s really nice to hear someone say that they can’t comment on a magazine article they are in until it comes out. Dollars to doughnuts that other athletes in other sports will be blabbing this week.
