Rory McIlroy: Well, I May Still Play in America After All
The saga of Rory McIlroy's 2010 season is still unfolding. Initially, the Daily Mail reported that McIlroy would be playing the PGA Tour in 2010 - at least four more events than this year - in an effort to maintain his Tour card.
Then, Sports Business Journal contacted McIlroy's agent, Chubby Chandler, who told Jon Show that McIlroy wasn't coming to America. (No Eddie Murphy jokes, please.)
"I am still thinking about it. I love playing in America. I play well over there and I am still thinking about taking out my PGA Tour card next year. There are a few things to weigh up. For instance, I don’t want to try and play an event in America and come straight back to play one in Europe. That’s tough.
"I am not saying that money is a factor in this, but the European Tour has been hit a lot harder by the economic crisis than the American tour. Look at the Frys.com Open last week. There was no-one in the top 20 in the world in the field and yet they were still playing for $5 million (€3.36m)."
I think McIlroy and his agent need to get on the same page.

yes – god forbid that the media give the kid a little breathing room to make up his mind before writing 75 stories about what he might be planning.

Haha, I think the whole hubbub about him is funny. I mean, the guy has one pro win. AND, even if he does take his card, he only has to play three or four more events.
