What Some Golf Fans Will Do For A Souvenir
Ryo Ishikawa - fresh off of his solid play at the Presidents Cup - played in the Japan Open last weekend on the JPGT, where he has four wins this year. Ultimately, he didn't win the tournament and finished runner-up in a playoff with Ryuichi Oda.
Things didn't get off to a better start in this week's Japan Tour Bridgestone Open. A crazy fan on the sixth tee went the extra mile to get an Ishikawa memento.
According to the Times of India:
[O]n his sixth hole in the first round of the Japan Golf Tour Bridgestone Open, the 18-year-old hooked his tee [shot] into trees, [when a] woman lost her calm, screaming as she was chided by fellow spectators for picking up the ball while it was still rolling, the daily Yukan Fuji reported in its Internet edition.
"I am a fan of Ryo and this is the first time I've been to a golf tournament," she was quoted as saying. "I really don't know the rules and I just tried to take the ball home as a souvenir."
Ishikawa went on to make bogey there, but shot -1 for the round.
Can you imagine the look on Steve Williams' face if someone did that here to Tiger's ball?!

That’s almost as bad as when the blue-collar workers from western Pa were throwing errant Arnold Palmer tee shots back into the fairway.

I Have A Dream
In which I backhand an errant TW shot ( indirect hit of course) 20 ’ back into the trees/rough/water. I look Stevie straight in the eye and say “It went thataway”.
