Troy Matteson: A Man Not Made For Summer Golf
Entering the third round of the Justin Timberlake event out in Las Vegas, former PGA Tour champion Troy Matteson is tied for the lead with Chad Campbell at -13. Matteson is the king of the Fall Series. His lone PGA Tour win came in the 2006 Frys.com Open. But his Fall Series track record is what helps him maintain his PGA Tour status. Matteson has a decidedly better record in the fall - with poorer fields - than at any other time of the year.
Last year, he had two of his five top ten finishes in the Fall Series in November. Historically, Matteson has his best months in the fall. Take a look at this chart of his play throughout the year. Matteson is at his best when the weather is a little cooler.
It's clear that Matteson thrives during this time of the year. That's not to say that Matteson doesn't play well during other times of the year, but fall is his best time.

The key seems to be
he should only enter two tournaments per month. If his average finish if 6-7th, that like fifteen top tens for the year. Only Tiger does that.
