Let Me Tell You About Phil Bundy
Phil Bundy and I really first got in touch with each other through the Waggle Room Twitter site. Phil's a fellow alum of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, and also on a quest to join the PGA Tour at 43 years of age.
Phil is no slouch golfer. He played collegiate golf at Wake Forest University - including their 1986 NCAA title team - and then started a golf marketing business during his time at the Smith School.
He's been working hard to line up sponsors, book appearances, and raise the money required to get his quest moving. He has formed a team of mentors from all angles - the swing, fitness, and marketing. He's dead serious and I think his quest is a pretty cool story to follow for anyone that has even the smallest dream of somehow becoming a professional golfer on the PGA Tour.
Bundy's task is daunting. If you have ever seen the priority list for the PGA Tour, you'll realize that Phil has a small window with which to crawl onto the Tour full-time. If his first foray back into pro golf in a foreshadowing of things to come, Phil will succeed. He won that event, the National Golf Tour Virginia Beach Open, in August 2007.
Since I think Phil's story is interesting and compelling, I've invited him to share his story with us here at Waggle Room from time to time through posts here and the occasional check-in interview on The 19th Hole. His website, philbundy.com, is on our blogroll if you'd like to check him out on your own.
