Fred Couples Dropped by Cadillac
Fred Couples has been sponsored by Cadillac for an awfully long time, but that ended when Cadillac - owned by General Motors - informed Couples that they would be dropping their name off of his shirts. This is a bit old, but I hadn't seen it and wanted to link to the Naples Daily News report if you hadn't either.
General Motors' Buick division announced late in 2008 that they would be dropping their sponsorship of Tiger Woods. This all comes on the heels of the automotive bailout mess and the ugly PR for the Big 3 in the wake of begging for bridge loans despite a lack of cost cutting.
Couples sounded understanding in his response to the news.
"My money with Cadillac was like tip money compared to what Tiger was getting," Couples said. "The economy is affecting me like it is her, or him or her," said Couples pointing to people in the autograph line. "We're all hurting."
