Ginn drops out
The Associated Press (see Yahoo golf news) is carrying the story of Ginn dropping the LPGA and Champions Tour effective immediately.
The loss of the LPGA event with its third most attractive purse, is highly damaging.
Ginn is suffering badly in their real estate business - they expressed their wish to be accepted back in golf sponsorship in the future when their particular economic situation can support partcipation.
More dominos can be expected to drop as the season goes forward.

on the bright side
I never liked that weirdness in the ‘09 LPGA schedule where the players would have to travel from the West Coast, out to Florida, then back to Mexico before starting the Eastern Swing. In ’10, I’d love to see the Corona move up to the run-up to the Kraft Nabisco, so there’s a real Asian-Pacific swing to start the season. Moving the KNC back a week would also help make April a less cruel month for fans of the LPGA. But Bivens needs to find some events to lead up to the Michelob Ultra, the next big tournament on the schedule before the summer major/European Swing season.

I found it interesting
That no LPGA official was available for comment according to VP Connie Wilson. I’ve spoken to Connie a few times myself.
Is the staff in a bunker somewhere listening to the song ’Don’t worry, be happy.’ It won’t get them out of the mess they’re in partly if not mostly the fault of Carolyn Bivens.
A mainstream golf writing friend(Yes I actually have at least two.. Hard to believe, heh?) said what I wrote here was sad but true and that he didn’t believe no official was available for comment. The word my friend used in a email was ‘chickens.’

I don't know about chicken
I was at the PGA Show today and they had a presence there. That definitely doesn’t mean that they’re unavailable to comment, but take it for what it’s worth.
