Fantasy Crystal Ball: Sony Open in Hawaii

Last week was a good week for my predictions, even if I didn't follow through on my Waggle Room Fantasy Golf team. But, I did have one of the runners up in Anthony Kim. I had Justin Leonard on the team, but not in my picks. Ernie Els did very well for himself, per usual in Hawaii. Vijay played like an injured man.
Adam Scott didn't turn out so well and I refuse to blame Kate Hudson for it, unlike the good folks at Golf Channel. I would rather blame his bum knee or inability to stop choking when it counts. My other B-list pick, Boo Weekley, showed some form and his Ryder Cup spirit by really enjoying his time playing with Anthony Kim.
Moving to this week, we have our first full-field event of the year at the Sony Open in Hawaii (aka the Hawaiian Open). KJ Choi is defending champion and has an excellent track record in this event. So does Davis Love III, as pointed out at Golf Channel by America's favorite golf editor Dena Davis. He's a steal on the B-list.
I am quickly learning, too, that players from South Africa and Australia really seem to thrive in Hawaiian events. That in mind, I will retain Ernie Els as a pick this week.
While I think you should stay away from most Americans this week, DL3 is one and may I also suggest my hunch on Steve Marino. They guy is going to break out this year with a win. Why not now? He finished T4 last year and could be a real innings eater on the B-list this season.
The other American that I'll recommend is Charles Howell III. He plays well in this event and showed some signs of life during the Fall Series.
Unlike last week, you have a lot more options on the C-list. My one standout pick to avoid is John Huston. Yes, he has won this event and has a decent track record here. But he has missed the cut in 3 of his last four appearances. He is schizophrenic at Waialae.
Congrats to red tees for the win last week, but remember that you are playing for a monthly prize of a TaylorMade golf umbrella courtesy of 14stix.com!

Vijay
I haven’t heard anything since the weekend – is Vijay going in for the knee surgery ? Before the tournament, he said he was going in after Kapalua – but over the weekend, they…ok…Kelly Tilghman (so take it with a little scepticism) said that he was going to put it off.
Is he going in ?

As far as I know
He’s still in for surgery. Haven’t heard anything to the contrary other than what Kelly said.

and it's a good thing...
…that Ogilvy closed out…Kelly would have some ‘splainin’ to do – didn’t he really want to win ? :-)
