So, the PGA Tour Has an Official Chemistry Partner
In one of the most bizarre sponsorships I have EVER seen, the PGA Tour and Dow Chemical got together for a four year deal that will make Dow - no joke - the Official Chemistry Company of the PGA Tour.
...What?
Jon Show at Sports Business Journal has the info, and the practical reason for the sponsorship:
Dow fills a previously unoccupied category as the official chemistry company of the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, Nationwide Tour and the network of 29 Tournament Players Clubs.
The TPC relationship should allow Dow to tie direct returns to the investment by selling its chemicals to TPC superintendents. Dow AgroSciences, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical, is one of the leading suppliers of herbicides and insecticides to golf courses.
Dow also produces plastics and resins used in the manufacturing of balls and clubs, and fibers used in Greg Norman’s clothing line. The company is looking to expand its involvement in those areas.
Seriously, anything can be sponsored these days. That's why I am proud to offer sponsorship opportunities for the Official Keyboard of Waggle Room. Any takers?

everything has a price
I’m with you – enough never seems to be enough. At least this one makes sense, being a usable product for golf courses. My favorite tour sponsor was PODS.
Remember a few years back when the LPGA sold sponsorships that were electronically displayed on the golf course as they played ? Like the first down line in football games. Now that was annoying.
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
oh
just got a note from “Montana” at the local “shoe modelling agency” – she and her “massage therapy” sideline would love to sponsor the Waggle Room keyboard. (I think she just has a fetish for the bald head) :-)
