Peter Kostis Should Not Have Access to a Keyboard or a Microphone
Peter Kostis is rarely right on matters outside of his niche of golf instruction. In the realm of swing analysis and instruction, he actually is pretty solid. He is so solid that CBS Sports was smart enough last season to use him more often for that purpose than for interviewing and legitimate reporting. Yes, he still has scuffles with Tiger Woods and other players, but largely Kostis is ok on air.
Unfortunately, though, he still gets to write for Golf.com. And, boy, did he come across poorly to me in his most recent piece called ...
A Great Win at a High Cost

First, Peter starts on the wrong foot by talking about why the Americans HAD to win the Ryder Cup:
First, America had to win or, at the very least, be competitive so that the Cup stayed relevant and important.
As I have debunked that before, in a previous post, I thought this would turn out to be rubbish. He doesn't even try to back up his first point, but instead, launches into his second:
Second, we were primed to put the ugly episodes of Kiawah and Brookline behind us by conducting these matches in the spirit that Samuel Ryder originally envisioned. The first test was passed with flying colors, but the second was failed miserably.
It took four more paragraphs to actually start explaining what he meant. First, he took issue with Boo Weekley's pony ride on Friday and stirring up the crowd in the same match. Please.
Then he chastised Captain Azinger for asking the fans to cheer bad or missed shots by the Euros. Guess what, Kostis? That would've happened anyway. It has been happening for years. Get over it. Is it classy? No. Is it really Zinger's fault? No.
While I will agree with his point about Zinger not shaking hands with Paul Casey following his Sunday halved match with Hunter Mahan, Kostis probably only noticed that because Casey happens to be in Kostis' stable.
If that's the best he could come up with, then I'd ask him to take a cue from his last paragraph in the piece.
Come on, a little imagination, please!

WHAT ??
WHEN did Azinger ASK the crowd to cheer missed or bad shots ??
And isn’t it possible that Azinger’s missed handshake with Casey was just an accident with all of the excitement around Mahan’s performance ? I personally don’t like Azinger, but he has a good reputation among the players.
You’re right – it’s time for a serious changing of the guards with these networks.
