The LPGA's Back! Yup!

PrintThe LPGA returns after some sporadic scheduling to finish its swing through the RTJ Golf Trail in Alabama. They do that with the playing of the Navistar LPGA Classic at Capitol Hill's the Senator. Maria Hjorth is the defender after beating Stacy P and LoCho down the stretch last year - and Angela Park had a great final round to have a nice paycheck.
All four rounds are on TGC...in primetime. The Hound Dog and the Constructivist offer their thoughts before things get underway. Rather than me try to pen something to say something they write better, take a look at what they have to say.

this is a GREAT golf course
Got to play The Senator a couple of weeks back. Great track. Interesting information I got from the greens keeper. The LPGA came in and told them to widen the fairways, cut the rough down to 1 1/2", and slow the greens to about a 10. (that’s slower than they usually play for the public) All the hole positions were way off to the sides just 3 or 4 steps from the fringe – leaving the entire middle of the greens healthy for LPGA positions.
This is a similar setup to last year. They wanted the winning score to be somewhere between -15 and -20 – but someone came out in the first round and shot a -9 and scared the committee to death. In the end, they weren’t too far off – it was just one amazing round.
It’s a beautiful golf course – very links style looking. There will be some very good scores shot and a few very bad ones for those who can’t stay in the fairway.

NICE leaderboard for round one !! Jill McGill at the top with Jane Park — Sandra Gal, Ji Young Oh, Lorena Ochoa…and just a few shots back is the future hottie Taylor Leon – SMOKIN’ !! :-)
Looks like there is some VERY good golf being played right out of the gate.
