Wagglers' Poll: Now What?

With the Ryder Cup done, there is still plenty of golf to be played.  We have the Tour Championship this week.  The LPGA Tour is going through its Southern swing before another Pacific swing and the season's end.  The Champ Tour has a major to be played and the Schwab Cup.  And there's the drive for cards on the Nationwide Tour and the final push in Europe.

But, does any of that matter to you?

xxx Golf Channel ??

I’m a 52 week a year viewer, but I’ve had to wean myself from xxx Golf Channel. They have gone MTV – less real golf and more of a game show feel.

time to fill

How many times can you watch re-runs of Tiger winning (pick a tournament)?

That's my beef

I like to think back to the late 90’s when I could tune in any time and see Dave Pelz, Jim McLean, Jim Flick, Rick Smith, and company teaching me how to play better. I loved watching the old Shells’ Wonderful World of Golf shows. I never get tired of Bobby Jones’ series of shorts films.

These days, I’ve had enough of the game shows. However, I do like the tournament coverage and especially the evening replays.

The MTV comparison is perfect. I wonder how many years it will take before the knowledge of what the ‘M’ stands for will be lost in the sands of time.

Completely agree

I enjoy the idea of a show that is a documentary styled reality show. School of Golf can be that. Junior golf and what those kids go through is interesting to me.

It’s tougher to sell me on a constant slew of reality competition shows, though. Big Break has kind of run its course. Highway 18 can replace it.

But, those shows should only be a small part of what TGC shows. Like you guys said, the golf improvement and golf classics programming are what the channel needs more of.

Hwy 18...

…mmmm…I’m not sold on this one…UNLESS they keep a steady stream of Ashley and Ashleigh and Charlotte’s flowing through.(WOW !) :-) Hopefully, Keri Murphy will lighten up and stop sounding like she’s reading cue cards and being a spokes model all the time.
