Michelle Wie on Her Way at LPGA Q-School
Michelle Wie completed her first round ever at the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament at Mission Hills - where they play the Kraft Nabisco Championship, and where Michelle Wie really made a name for herself by playing in the final group several years back.
She fired -2 (70) and stands in T8. She has to finish in the top 30 to advance to the final at LPGA International in December.
For the otherwise informed and interested, Stacy Lewis is at -2 as well and in good shape.

wait and watch
pretty good first round on the Dinah Shore layout – the easier of the two courses – three rounds to go, two of them on the tougher Palmer course. she still hasn’t shown a lot of ability to go low, or to put good rounds together back to back.

only once on Palmer, according to LPGA

I see
missed it on the LPGA page. one round each on Shore and Palmer – then a cut – and the final two days on the Shore course.
Are they doing that just because they play the Kraft Nabisco on that course ? I would want the best players to get through to the final round – make them play the Palmer course three days instead of the Shore course…but that’s just me, I’m sure.

CUT????
The PGA Tour doesn’t cut at Q-School because the participants have all paid a significant amount of money to play. I don’t understand why the LPGA still has a cut. It’s not inconceivable that someone sitting one shot below the cut line would put two good rounds together on the last days and finish well into the top 30.
btw: John Feinstein’s Tales from Q-School is highly recommended reading.
looks pretty good
hold it together for 2 more rounds and it’s off to Florida
