Golf Club Prices Going Down
It looks like the downturn in the economy has hit golf, too - something thought unthinkable by the industry. As a result, look for club prices to decline further.
Adam Schupak at Golfweek explains:
Equipment makers and retailers agree golfers are postponing purchases. To spark sales, some manufacturers are cutting prices: Callaway has lowered its FT-i driver to $399 from $499, and its FT-5 to $299 from $425. From May to July, Callaway also offered consumers who purchased a driver a gift card to purchase as much as $100 of gas. Mark Marney, CEO of The Golf Warehouse, expects such incentives to become more prevalent during the second half of the year.
I don't buy too much golf equipment. I don't think I have in about seven years. But, it sounds like the companies may have to move some product and we can benefit.

woo-hoo
Now I can go out and get… ooops… wait, I’m as broke as everyone else. I do upgrade my driver every year, though. I check the “previously played” rack at Golf Galaxy for the newest Ping or Taylor Made I can find for under $100.
