Stacy Lewis on FUTURES Tour

Story here

So, she didn't get an invite to Reno, but she understands the need to play competitive golf on some level in order to stay sharp.

This will really be interesting.  The London, KY event is close enough that I could go down there for a day.  Unfortunately I won't be able to make it.

CG, that's only 4 or so hours north of you.  Maybe you should go then report back?  OK, I admit I'm adding words so I exceed the seventy-five word limit to get this posted where I want it.

funny decision

A couple of events? If she had gone for the six remaining ones starting last week, it would have made a lot more sense, in terms of being eligible t compete for a card and all. Guess she’s still hoping for LPGA sponsors’ exemptions in August and September…. Otherwise, Q=School it is. Guess there’s still time for her and Vicky to be IMing Michelle Wie.

weeellllllllllllllllllll

She didn’t turn pro until the US Open and she made $162k right out of the gate – a pretty good chunk of change to tide you over for the rest of the year. Unofficial money, yes, but that’s a pretty big confidence booster.

Lewis has somewhere around $21k in official money in two starts and four more to come – unlike Wie who has 1 start left. There was no way she could play 6 Futures Tour events AND get in four LPGA starts just because of the scheduling. If she had chosen the Futures Tour route, she would be starting from scratch and flushing all that “big league” confidence.

I see it boiling down to her deciding to keep the competitive juices flowing with the Futures tournaments, set up the LPGA starts she is sure to get thanks to the US Open, and roll the dice. If she has to go to Q-school, no big deal. She knows she’s good enough to get a card, and still has $162k (ok, less a couple of kegs and shopping sprees) in the bank.

But why would she and Vicky Hurst IM with Michelle Wie ? They’re having a better season than Wie. :-D

D – I wish it was just 4 hours – more like 5 (I don’t drive 100 mph like you) :-) I’ll just wait for October and the end of the season tournament here in town.
