Place yer bets on Wie
Last week, someone asked about odds on Michelle Wie this week at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open. I've been searching for lines in Vegas and got nothing but odds at the WGC Bridgestone. I checked Ladbrokes.com and got the same thing.
I guess I'm not to shocked to find a lack of betting interest on Wie, but I did finally find a bookie with a few specials on Skybet.com. None of them seem like good bets:
Miss Cut 1/16
Make Cut 7/1
Top 10 66/1
Top 5 150/1
Shoot Under Par 13/2
I can't see putting $16 down to make $1 on her missing the cut. I'm a little surprised at the odds for her making the cut. Doesn't sound like they would be too shocked if that happened - but it's not the "sure thing" odds they are giving to her missing.
If you're wondering, there are no other lines on Reno-Tahoe here, but the WBO odds are Ochoa - 7/2, Sorenstam 14/1, and Creamer 18/1. Those are the only names under 20/1.
Stu adds: Butting in on courtgolf's post, I'll add that the par at Montreaux is 72, and in 2007 even-par made the cut, +1 missed it. If I were a betting man (I'm not, haven't placed a bet since losing several hundred to a clubhouse bookie around age 18), I might take a flier on those 13/2 odds for breaking par - assuming that means for any individual round rather than for the tournament. I can see Wie doing something like 82-71 (or 76-75, or 80-83, or 72-70, or just about anything else you can think of - I'm not ruling anything out).
I'll also add a poll:

the wager...
...IS for Wie to break par in any of her rounds. She is going to have to do it twice to make the cut, I believe – so personally, I think it’s a bad bet to take her.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
but isn’t it illegal for casinos to take bets on sporting events held within the state of Nevada? This would explain why you can’t find any lines in Vegas for the Reno-Tahoe Open.

not professional sports
they take bets on professional sporting events in the state – but not amateur. I’m not sure that it’s illegal to take bets on the amateurs. I’ve been told it was more of a “gentleman’s agreement” out of respect for UNLV.
