Sunday Finishes
... and Open Thread ...
PGA Tour
Make it three wins in five weeks for Kenny Perry. Perry botched the final hole of regulation, when he led by one, to fall into a tie with Brad Adamonis and Jay Williamson at the John Deere Classic. But then those two botched the first extra hole, and Perry had the victory.
European Tour
Graeme McDowell fired a final-round 68 to claim a 2-stroke victory in the Scottish Open. It is McDowell's second Euro Tour win this year and moved him to sixth in Ryder Cup points. As for the big names in the field, Ernie Els finished seventh, Adam Scott 25th, Henrik Stenson 33rd and Phil Mickelson 38th.
Nationwide Tour
Rick Price bogeyed the first playoff hole at the Nationwide Tour Players Cup. But his opponent, Chris Anderson, double-bogeyed, and so Price got the win.
LPGA Tour
Paula Creamer's final two rounds weren't things of beauty, but her first two rounds were - and that was enough for a victory in the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic. After opening 60-65, Creamer was +1 over the final 36 holes. But she still won by two strokes over a charging Nicole Castrale, who finished with a 64.
Ladies European Tour
Suzann Pettersen began the day with a 1-stroke lead, and after shooting a 67 in the final round ended it with a 5-shot win in the Ladies Irish Open. Morgan Pressel closed with a 66 to finish seventh.
Futures Tour
Vicky Hurst did it again. Starting the day two strokes behind M J Hur, Hurst ran away with the Cigna Golf Classic, winning by eight shots over amateur Natalie Sheary. Hur shot 81 and fell back to sixth. Hurst's 68 was one of only three sub-par rounds on the final day. In eight Futures Tour starts, Hurst has four wins.

quite a day...
Well – Vicky Hurst is set – she’ll have a card next year – she’s established that she’s ready to be out of the minors. Time to jump on a few LPGA sponsors’ invites and see how she can do.
Wouldn’t you love to understand what happens when a player jumps out to a lead like Paula Creamer had on Thursday – then slowly gets worse as the week goes on ? If you could solve that mystery and fix it – you could put 99% of the sports psycho-babblers out of bidness.
Two-thirds of the best women are playing well – Creamer and Pettersen both won – so now we need Ochoa to wake up before the British – could be some real fireworks !
Bummer of a finish with the PGA Tour guys. Two balls in the water and Kenny Perry waltzes home – good for him – but I thought we were going to see a few holes of playoffs.
Anybody else watch Jay Williamson move and think he walks like a high school football coach in those tight Bike coaches shorts ? (ok boys – time for some up-downs !) :-)

battlefield promotion?
I wish the LPGA hada battlefield promotion rule for the Futures Tour. I think 4 wins in a season shows you’re ready for the big leagues, don’t you? Well, we’ll see how she does at the State Farm next week—her previous win got her a sponsors’ exemption there.
BTW, Yuri Fudoh became the JLPGA’s 1st repeat winner of 2008, breaking the billion yen barrier in career winnings in style.
