Most celebs just want to top Barkley in Tahoe golf
The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe, one of the oldest and biggest events on the celebrity golf circuit, takes place Friday through Sunday. And Charles Barkley is entered.
"As long as I’m ahead of Charles, I'm in good shape," Dallas Mavericks star and 2008 U.S. Olympian Jason Kidd said.
Barkley is "a 500-1 longshot to win," the article notes. I submit that any celeb who can't beat Barkley shouldn't be allowed to play.
In slo-mo:
Tiger impersonating Barkley:
Come to think of it, this is probably how Tiger really injured himself ...

Barkley Nike commercial
Stu -
I’ve looked all over and can’t find the Nike commercial with Barkley hitting bad shot after bad shot while Tiger looks on and “Frank” comments. Any idea where it might be ?

maybe
on a file-sharing service, like Limewire or Kazaa … but as someone who doesn’t even own a cell phone, I’m not the guy to look in those places.

Limewire and Kazaa
I’m not a member of either one of those services. Hard to believe that the Tiger Woods and Frank commercials aren’t out there.

copyrights
Nike might have forced YouTube and similar sites to remove them. Although why a company wouldn’t want its own commercials readily available, I’m not sure. I sent Nike an email asking if they are available anyway. But not expecting a reply.

great minds
I sent the same email off to Nike – but I’m going to think a little more positively ! Those commercials are too funny. Remember the one with Frank unveiling Tiger’s new Ignite driver and all the other pros sneaking into the garage ?

Got my reply
They protect that copyright because they sell the commercials:
... the Video Monitoring Services (VMS) sells copies of Nike television commercials. They can be reached directly at (323) 993-0111.

oh well
I guess that’s how you get to be a multi-billion dollar corporation. But who would want to buy a commercial from a series on clubs that are no longer made, and a Frank character that isn’t used anymore ? It’s a shame to take them out of circulation like that.
There’s a great story about Ted Turner a number of years ago. He and some friends were in limo on their way to a fancy dinner – tuxedos and all. The limo got a flat and they found that it was going to cost $100 to get a wrecker there right away to fix the tire. Ted Turner said he would change the tire for $50. He did – they paid – and they got a lesson on how to become a billionaire.
