Open Thread - U.S. Women's Open, Third Round
The leaders are off. There's already been one weather delay of 40 minutes today. Hopefully it will be the last.
Use this thread to discuss third-round happenings ...
Update: That weather delay pushed the conclusion of play beyond NBC's allotted time, and the network just ended its coverage with the final group on No. 15. The leaders at this point are Stacy Lewis (17) and Paula Creamer (15) at 8-under. Helen Alfredsson (15) and Inbee Park (14) are a stroke back.

Stacy
How about that Stacy Lewis? Making putts from everywhere! She may have gone the U. of Arkansas, but she’s a Texas girl. From The Woodlands. No Publinx for her :)

Rolfing on Wie and...
...Wie’s caddy ? They replayed Wie’s troubles at #9 on Thursday. That was painful to watch, especially the chip that came up short and rolled slowly back to the fringe.
Then Mark Rolfing shows his brilliance by….drumroll please….blaming the CADDY ! The caddy should’ve been more forceful and stepped in to tell the player what to do ? Is he insane ? Wie misplayed every shot, but it was the caddy’s fault.
Two weeks after he sounds like the Einstein of golf thanks to Johnny Miller’s complete ineptness at the US Open, he comes up with nonsense like that ???
Oh – don’t forget what he said about Helen Alfredsson and the three players in front of her…that their ages add up to 63, and Helen is 43. Dottie Pepper’s reply was great. “You’ll be getting a Christmas card about that statement.” (wow – Dottie made a funny !) :-)

#7 ?
What did you think ? They moved the tees up to make it a driveable 248 yard par 4 – up 67 yards from the 315 it was playing on Thursday and Friday.
I’m not a big fan of the move. This didn’t seem like a good hole to do this on. The dogleg is too close to the tees to take the ball up and over the corner, so the players who wanted to go for the green had to hook the ball around the corner and hope for a miraculous bounce between three bunkers and through rough. If they got that miracle bounce, the ball would run all the way to the back or even through the green, leaving a very difficult chip or downhill putt.
Going for the green seemed like a ridiculous option. They were better off just hitting an iron in front of the bunkers and pitching on.

#8
Did you hear the comment that #8 played as a 267 yard par 3 back in 1930 when Bobby Jones won the US Open ?
That’s 19 yards longer than they were playing the par 4 7th today. That’s a tough par 3 !!
