Tiger Woods double-bogeyed the first hole. That guy is way overrated.

Later: Never have I been happier to hear Johnny Miller. Because when Johnny goes on the air today and tomorrow, that means Chris Berman if off the air. At least temporarily. Please, USGA, take a cue from Augusta and tell ESPN to keep that guy away from future championships.

Tiger and Phil both at +1 through 14 ...

Is anybody else getting what I’m getting ? I keep pulling up players where the score total and the hole scores aren’t matching up. According to the scorecard, Karlsson should be -4, but the total says -3. I heard that Mickelson had a double bogey on a hole that Tiger birdied…but that’s not on here either.

I don't much care for the platform...

...majorchampionships.com uses for their online leader board. ESPN.com has a nice one – opens as a mini-window that you can keep up while working.

As of 2:43 EDT:

Greens and fairways seem to have accelerated significantly. Sans rain, the weekend should be brutal. And who would have it any other way?

the lesser of two evils ?

You’d think Chris Berman might take a hint that nobody wants him around a golf tournament. At least he seems a little more subdued than usual – I’m sure he’s just saving his energy for the weekend. (ick)

So, Stu, you’re saying that Miller is the lesser of two evils ? :-)

poor Roger Maltby

he must have a headache wondering what he did to find himself in the middle of such a bunch of whack jobs. between Berman and his constant flow of mispronunciations and bad analogies, Mike Tirico, who seems to have forgotten everything he ever learned about anchoring a golf tournament, and Judy Rankin who sounds like she has joined the Dottie Pepper/Johnny Miller school of made up shot names (what the heck is a chip-pitch ?) and thinks that Ernie Els can’t hit either a high pitch that carries to the hole, or a low running chip.

good lord – Curtis Strange even came across as Mr Nice Guy ! who ever thought that would happen ?
