Amy Yang Goes Nuts

Amy Yang is playing lights-out in Germany. Yesterday in the second round of the Ladies German Open, she moved into contention with a 66. Today in the third round, she shot 63. Her round included nine birdies plus an eagle.

Needless to say, she's now in the lead. A five-stroke lead, in fact. See the leaderboard.

Michelle Wie, meanwhile, continues to have a very solid, good tournament. She's posted round of 68, 69 and 70, is 9-under and tied for seventh. She's had only two above-par holes (both bogeys) in three rounds. Perhaps Wie has finally turned the corner and regained a good amount of control over her swing.

and she's how old ?

OH-MUH-GAWD – she’s 18…same age as…ummm…what’s her name…like…Michelle somebody ? Wie ?

I saw an AP headline for the tournament – naturally, Wie was the lead, but the headline read “More Trouble for Wie”. More amateur hour stuff from the AP. Apparently they didn’t realize that Wie shot her third consecutive round under par and that this is GOOD news for her.

Of course – they had to print her whining about not playing up to her “potential” – whatever the heck that means these days. They’re playing a 6200 course that she SHOULD be able to play without a driver and shoot a good score.

Oh yeah – and Amy Yang broke the course record – nice of the AP to mention her.

congrats to Amy!

Her 2nd win on the LET and 1st as a professional helps her extend her lead on the order of merit there!
