Switchover to 2.0 Delayed by a Day

Blame Central Texas thunderstorms. Seriously.

Power was knocked out in Austin last night, and Austin is where the man in charge of flipping the switch to turn off 1.0 and turn on Waggle Room 2.0 is located. No power, no flipping of switch.

It's possible the migration could still happen sometime this morning, but probably more likely it will now happen very early Friday morning.

Don't blame Texans!
Blame Mother Nature. I'm in San Antonio, it stormed all night. Over in Austin, I heard that parts of town were still without power this afternoon. Major hailstorms all around town.

ouch!
hope the hail doesn't come along with tornados !

we're just getting lots of muck and rain...but you're watching that on xxx Golf Channel.

Could be a sad week - the 40th AT&T may be the last here in Atlanta.  Rumor is that the PGA Tour isn't exactly going great guns to get a new sponsor in here so they can move The Texas Open into that slot and have a four tournament Texas swing. (like three wasn't enough !)  But you'd have a regular season tournament there in San Antonio.

Yep
That's the word here too. Actually, Finchem promised the Texas Open people a couple years ago that the tourney would get a spring date as soon as one became available. Reason is that tourney raises more money for charity than any other event; and a new TPC complex is being built here. The Greg Norman course will get the Texas Open, the Pete Dye course will get the AT&T Championship, the senior tourney.

I think it's great for obvious reasons to get a better date for the Texas Open. But also because it's such a historic tournament. One of the oldest on tour. In fact, some of the meetings at which the earliest pros got together and formulated a tour were held in the clubhouse at Brackenridge Municipal Golf Course (a Tillinghast design that is currently closed undergoing a major renovation).

Should be a very bright future for the Texas Open.
