Reminder: Waggle Room 2.0 Coming Thursday ... (um, make that Friday)
This will be my final post in Waggle Room 1.0. Very early Thursday (I mean Friday) - in the wee hours of the morning - Waggle Room will go offline for brief time. When we return, we'll be in Waggling in 2.0 mode.
You'll see a very different design (although same colors and same logo in the upper left), and a completely new, built-from-the-ground-up blogging platform with plenty of new features.
Waggle Room users will have to do one thing before jumping back in, however: You'll need to "claim" your Waggle Room account. When you see the new design tomorrow, click the "Log In" button (which will be in the upper left, below the site logo) and log in with your user name and password. Then follow the steps to "claim" your account.
Don't worry, it's simple and takes about 30 seconds. After that, you can proceed to personalize your new user page (upload an avatar or pic, for example) or start exploring some of the new options.
And if you need help or aren't sure what to do? There will be a "Welcome Guide" link right below the "Log In" link. Click "Welcome Guide" for an overview of 2.0 features.
Better yet, the top post on Waggle Room after the switchover tomorrow will be a "Welcome to Waggle Room 2.0" post by Trei Brundrett, the Head Geek of the very talented group of technogeeks who built the SB Nation platform.
Trei will run down the new features and tell you how to start using them. Even better, he'll also be checking in throughout the day to read your comments to his post - and your comments can include praise, criticism, questions, bug reports, requests for help or anything else you want to say or ask. (And of course, if I know the answer to any questions, I'll chime in, too.)
I'll leave Trei's post at the top of the page for at least 24 hours to give all our regulars a chance to read it. Then I'll jump back in to posting on the main page.
In the interim, I'll be posting Fan Posts (our new name for "diaries") and Fan Shots (quick hits with no minimum length requirment that you can use to post a video, photo, quote, link or other "hey, check this out" kind of item). Both items make it much easier to edit your post than the current blogging platform we use; the 2.0 platform offers WYSIWYG view and all those buttons for boldface, italics, blockquotes, hyperlinking, and so on.
So long Waggle Room 1.0. Bring on Waggle Room 2.0!
