Final Round: Blowing in the Wind (with poll)

Today's Augusta, Georgia forecast, courtesy of wunderground.com:

Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs in the upper 60s. West winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts around 30 mph.

The likelihood of anyone going particularly low today is, I would think, slim to none. I can scarcely imagine Augusta National yielding more than a handful of scores under par, and the 68s and 69s of the past few days have probably been blown clear across South Carolina and out into the Atlantic.

Star-divide

.

So what will this mean? Who has the chops to contend with the wind? How many 3-wood "stingers" will Tiger hit from the tees today? How will this affect putts on the already glassy greens?

This should be fun...

it's not the low scores...
...with steady winds like that, plus the gusts, plus the swirling effects that pop up around Augusta - it is not a low score to watch for - it is the high scores that could make for a wild final round.

if the leaders put it in reverse and a couple of trailers can manage something close to par...look out !

Another good question is ...
what ends up winning this thing?  -11?  -8?  worse?  Better?

I'd say even with the wind -9 will win it.  But ask me in a few hours and I might change that quickly.

That there's no wind right now.  Maybe it never arrives?

Conditions as of noon:
Winds are only around 6 mph, gusting to 8 mph.

Wonder if the wind will freshen this afternoon?

No apology necessary!
By the way - winds relatively unchanged as of this post. Still right around 7 mph.

I was really hoping for wind this afternoon. I like to see these guys really have to work at it. Oh well.

There are far more guys at '+' on their round today than there are guys at '-', but I doubt that has much to do with climatological conditions...

way to go you guys
bring on the jinx !! the wind was down until you started talking about it !  LOL

actually, the weather people predicted winds from 18-22 mph with gusts up in the 30 mph range.

Snedeker looks pretty good so far...

Looking out my back door...
...the trees here in Atlanta certainly seem a little more lively than they were earlier today...

Both Snedeker and Immelman seem to be handling the pressure fairly well.

I started to give Fogerty credit...
...for the subject heading above.

And Flesch just tagged a pine on 7. Ouch.
