Round 2
The Masters headline on Yahoo read:
Tiger needs major comeback
In a huge shock, Tiger Woods is nowhere near the leaders after day two at the Masters.
I don't point this out to make fun of the headline/blurb writer. I know from 15 years of newspaper experience how difficult it can be to write good headlines (which explains why I've given up trying on Waggle Room!), and the fact is the person writing the above may have no familiarity with golf at all.
Those of us who are familiar with golf know that the Yahoo verbiage is way over the top. Speaking after just two rounds are complete, it would not be a "major" comeback for Woods to go on to win this thing. If were were talking after the third round, yes. But after the second, no.
And it hardly qualifies as a "major shock" that Woods is in the Top 20 after two rounds.
Woods' position is not terrible. Sure, he'd rather be in Phil Mickelson's position. He'd much rather be in Trevor Immelman's position. But where he's at - one of just 19 golfers under par - is certainly workable.
Besides, while he's seven shots behind Immelman, it's Mickelson - at 5-under, just four strokes ahead of Tiger - who Woods is most keeping an eye on at this point. Immelman? Very good player to be sure, but one who doesn't cause alarm bells to go off for Tiger. Phil? Can't let him get too far out front.

aww - come on Stu...
I have to be impressed with Snedeker - two solid rounds in his rookie trip to Augusta - AND he's using Bridgestone clubs, headquartered right in Georgia.
And where did Goosen come from ? I like it !
And what do you think about Poulter ? Come on - he DID say he was the second best player in golf - gotta give him a shot, right ?
Poulter
