Saturday Finishes ... and What a Finish for Creamer

... and Open Thread ...

LPGA Tour
Once again this week the LPGA wraps up a Thursday-Saturday schedule, and at the Fields Open Paula Creamer wrapped up her fifth career victory.

Creamer began the day two strokes behind Jeong Jang, and the two battled all day. Others battled, too: For the second straight week, the LPGA final-round leaderboard was a great mix of veterans and youngsters, stars and lesser-knowns. Annika Sorenstam charged, Lindsey Wright came on strong, Karen Stupples reappeared and Minea Blomqvist was in the mix.

Creamer caught Jang late with a great closing run - four birdies in her last five hole, including the last three in a row. On the final hole, Creamer hit a brilliant approach to five feet, and JJ left her approach just off the green, short. Her birdie try wasn't close, but Creamer's found the cup. One-stroke win for Paula.

So in Week 1, Annika wins. In Week 2, Creamer wins. Might Lorena Ochoa be heard from in Week 3?

now that's an exciting finish
That Michelle Wie is incredible.  What a dominating perfor...oh wait...Paula CREAMER won the tournament, chasing down Jeong Jang.  That approach at 18 was as clutch as it gets.  Seeing Jang flair her approach was a little surprising after watching her all week

I think this is going to be the start of a very good year for Creamer.  She needed a tough battle for a win.

Sorenstam showed that she still has some work to do.  Before last year, you wouldn't even consider the thought that she would put a double bogie and a bogie on the card in the final round when she was in contention.

Could've done without the ridiculous boxing comparisons with Jeong Jang.  Saying that her boxing cross training was helping because she was taking so many body shots from Creamer was just plain dumb...not to mention inaccurate.  I'm pretty sure that Jang isn't sparring - and the idea of boxing isn't to get hit to win.

Oh yeah - Wie didn't technically finish DFL - but she went from a middle of the pack spot after 2 rounds to a Made Cut DFL.  I guess all that positive thinking and "staying in the present" got in the way of playing the game.

"this ball will fit in that fairway"
