It's Time for the (Golf) Airing of Grievances!

Frank Costanza: The tradition of Festivus begins with the Airing of Grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now, you're gonna hear about it.
It is Festivus - the holiday for the rest of us - and part of the holiday is the Airing of Grievances. Let's put a golf spin on it and tell me the things that bother you about ANYTHING in golf. Could be the media, the players, yourself, how long it takes to play, or anything like that.
Let's hear em! And then it'll be time for the Feats of Strength!

it's all about the presentation..
…I know there are economic things to worry about…and I don’t really care about the Fed Ex Cup – golf is not a game well suited to playoffs except in match play.
SO – my gripes come down to things like why the heck Kelly Tilghman is still sitting in the host seat. For that matter – Johnny Miller. The two WORST golf announcers on the planet – and nobody can figure out a way to get rid of them. Dottie Pepper is improving, but she’s still the only person who thinks her jokes are funny. The other two ladies are just awful. They can’t read putts, they can’t judge distances, they can’t follow the ball. Time to go, ladies. We don’t even want to start with the LPGA broadcasts past the amateur hour feel with all the giggling and bad interviews. Hiring people because they are “famous for being famous” doesn’t get the job done, TGC and NBC…and..oh my lord…ESPN.

My big ones
I need to rant. I’ve been keeping this stuff bottled up.
- A foursome that erupts into pandemonium when one of them hits a GIR or sinks a putt. Thanks, guys, for helping me to yank my new Pro-V1 into the woods. You must’ve forgotten that you’re not the only ones out here and in fact, I was only ten yards away. Trying to tee off.
- People that refuse to rake bunkers and fix ball marks. Golf is a game of bounces – good and bad. Why do my bounces always seem to direct the ball toward footprints and dead ball craters?
- I wish the USGA would address the reality of stroke and distance penalties on busy public courses. Can’t I just take two strokes and drop up there?
- A dress code is a dress code. If you don’t own anything but tank tops and jeans but can afford to play golf, then you can afford a collared shirt and a pair of shorts/pants.
- The embarassment of yelling “Fore!” won’t compare to the embarassment you feel after I rip you a new one for drilling me with your tee shot.
- I really wish I could figure out what happened to my 2-iron. I mean, I cannot hit it anymore. A year ago, I could out distance some people with drivers in their hands (~250). Now, it’s embarrassing. If I don’t top it or smother it, I yank it dead left.
- I love the course I belong to and I like that it’s wide open and somewhat windy, but I hate the fact that the approach areas in front of the greens are very, very soft, making it ineffective to play bump and run on windy days.
- FInally, I used to love the winter and now I absolutely despise it.

Crocodile Dundee
if Eagle was Crocodile Dundee and my rant was one of those hoods who pulled a knife on him in the movie – he would say, “That’s not a rant…(pulling out his rant)…now THAT’S a rant.” :-)
especially about fixing divots, pitch marks, and raking bunkers.

Serenity now!
That’s what I get for keeping it all bottled up! ;-)

A good rant...
I agree with several of Double Eagle’s rants…especially ball marks and divots – it seems this past year I noticed more and more of them. Oh, and I agree with winter…ugh.
My other complaint would be cell phones…it bugs me to no end when a person in my group is chattering on the phone either slowing up play or distracting someone else.
