Duramed Invitational to close '08 season
Ok D - this is for you...just so you don't think I'm forgetting about the tour stop ! :-)
The Duramed Futures Tour will be closing out the 2008 season here in Atlanta next week (Oct 17-19) - a limited field event of 70 - 68 pros and 2 local amateurs. Seven of the top 10 on the money list will be here, including #1 Vicky Hurst and #2 Mindy Kim, plus three Big Breakers - Kim Welch, Ashley Prange, and Kristina Tucker.
They are playing the Chateau Course at the Chateau Elan Resort and Winery - which isn't a bad golf course. I'll be interested in seeing how much of it they play and how well they score.
We'll be having Abby Pearson from the Tour office, and maybe Tour Director Brian Crotty, who is flying in from Ireland, on the radio this Sunday (790theZone.com) sometime between 9 and 10 am.
They're still looking for volunteers - so come on down !

Good News
Sounds like you’re promoting the event so I’m sure you’ll get plenty of local voluteers. It’ll be interesting to see how many people come through the gate. I’m still irritated the Nationwide Tour gets all its tournaments on GC while the FUTURES Tour can’t even get a 30 minute highlight show once a week.

that one's pretty easy
The PGA Tour has a big contract with xxx Golf Channel – the LPGA doesn’t. Guess they think people would rather watch shows like Highway 18. (aside from watching the Ash’s and Charlotte – and it wasn’t for their golf – that was a gawdawful show)
The highlight show does sound like at least a decent idea.

How's this for fun ?
At the same time the Duramed Invitational is going on, the 20th Annual Irish America’s Cup will also be going on at the Woodlands Course, also at Chateau Elan. Back behind the hotel is Paddy’s – a pretty decent Irish Pub. (the fish and chips gets thumbs up from Tournament Director and 100% Irishman, Brian Crotty)
You can bet that there will be some good times had by all between both tournaments !! Who doesn’t like sharing a pint with an Irishman ?
The Irish America’s Cup is a friendly tournament of business people – so it is more of a networking and drinking event – but always fun.
