Bad Weather Golf
It's a global phenomenon! AK gets fogged out in Korea, just like Ji-Yai Shin in CA. Wind, rain, terrible scoring conditions from central NY to northern CA to northwestern Japan wreaked havoc with scores and moods across the golf world. Which raises several questions. Is handling the worst the elements can throw at you a matter of luck or are some better than others at it? Who are the best bad-weather golfers out there today? How do they compare to the all-time greats?

I always thought
Golfers from Texas were the best bad weather golfers. Guys like Campbell and Leonard because they had to play in windy conditions. Not so much rain, though. That may be a different list.

it's amazing
I hear ya, Con – remember a few years ago when it seemed like every week the first half of the year, tournaments had rain delays and a couple were shortened because of it.
Best in the world ? Mr “There are no rainy days” – Tiger Woods. He’s there with Nicklaus, Watson, and Kite – who tell stories about hearing guys in the locker room complaining about the weather and they would just check off names they didn’t have to worry about beating because they were already beaten before they teed it up.
You’re right about the Texans and their wind play – but don’t forget about Roy McAvoy. :-)
Most European players are at last decent in weather – they see it all the time – but right now, Harrington has to be the best European in bad weather.
I’m struggling to find a woman other than Sorenstam who steps it up in bad weather. It seems like they all play about the same when the weather turns sour.

Tiger and The Great One
Have you heard this story about Tiger and Wayne Gretsky ? They were playing on a windy day – Gretsky’s ball was getting blown all over the place. He asked Tiger what he needed to do to correct it. Tiger said “I have no idea – I hit the ball solid, so my ball doesn’t get off line in the wind.” ZING !!!! :-)
