Up to #3
Sergio moved up to #3 in the world rankings this week following his win. Going into 2009 will he continue to gain ground on Lefty and #1? Or will this new career achievement be too much for the Spaniard who considered leaving the game when the hill of success seemed to steep to climb.
The assumption is #1 will as usual take on all the challenges the are certain to come with his extended absence and rehab, with great poise. Like his the game, unpredictable, will Lefty excel with this challenge or pull hook his game and plummet in the rankings.
And they say this time of year has nothing to offer for golf….Sergio has certainly found fuel for the fire headed into 2009.

I think there's a decent chance
That Sergio becomes #2 and Paddy becomes #3. Depending on the timing of Woods’ return, one of them could slip into the #1 spot temporarily.
Have to agree with you...
…but remember…Ernie Els is in year 3 of his three year plan to take over the top spot ! (cough cough) :-)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
He'll probably have a great Dubai
tournament because Tiger isn’t there.

hey now
don’t diss Double-E !! He’s won at Dubai with Tiger in the field before. I’m telling you – he has THE PLAN !! :-)
"this ball will fit in that fairway"
Maybe year 3
included Tiger being out for the first part of it.
I kid, though, because Ernie is a kick ass guy. He’s just struggling to find his inner Vijay.

Oh NO !
You’re not saying that Tiger was “Carrigan’d” as a part of the plan, are you ? :-)
