Stacy Lewis watch

Here's a quick update on Stacy Lewis - she's still a long way short of her $120,000 goal to get her LPGA card for '09. She has this week (Long's Drug Challenge) and next week's Kapalua Classic.
Right now, she has just under $32,000 in tour earnings.
After the first round at the Long's Drug Challenge, she's tied for 30th at -1, but really needs to finish no lower than 5th this week to take any kind of pressure off for next week. Last year two players tied for 4th and made $51,640. Kapalua has an extra $300,000 in the purse, so she will have a little more room to maneuver next week, but a top 5 this week would be huge.
A win or second place this week and she's in. Third place this week still forces a top 12 finish next week. Fourth forces her to finish top 5 or 6 next week.
She's 5 shots out of first right now - but this is a weird leaderboard. There are a lot of elder stateswomen ahead of her, and most of them haven't put four rounds together in a while, so if she can put a few rounds in the 67-68 range, she might have a shot.

There were a lot of high scores yesterday. If she breaks 70 twice she could still get a top 10….

not counting her out, but...
…she’s 9 shots out of the lead before the start of play – 5 behind a 5th place spot. They are calling for another breezy day out there – winds 15-20 mph. It’s going to take better than a couple of 70’s with all those names in front of her.
don’t get me wrong – I’m pulling for her – but she’s put herself in a position where it may take a win next week.
Two 68’s and she’s got a shot at a top 5.
