Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Oh no! Tiffany Joh has opened 74-78 and is in 38th place in the Women's World Amateur. Amanda Blumenherst came back with a 71 after an opening 79 to lead the Americans at T27, but Alison Walshe started 78-73 and is T30.

Our girls are +6 in the team competition, tied for 8th behind Mika Miyazato's Japan (+3, 5th), Dewi Claire Schreefel's Netherlands (+2, 4th), and the absolutely loaded Spanish (-7, 2nd) and Swedish (-15, 1st) teams. The Swedes have the 2 leaders--Caroline Hedwall (-8) and Anna Nordqvist (-7)--and nobody lower than 6th place, while the Spaniards are all in 11th or better individually, lead by Carlota Ciganda, who just shot a 66 to leap into 3rd place individually at 4, 2 shots ahead of Azahara Munoz (5th) and 6 up on Belen Mozo (+1).

Here's hoping America's finest turn it around down under!

TC, keep it up

I get the results from the USGA, but I don’t have much ability to interpret the amateur scene!

That's not like T-Joh

Unless she’s just really tired or really rusty (other things that aren’t like her) – I’d bet that they will be firing back in the next rounds.

a little comeback yesterday

http://www.golfweek.com/story/world-am-rd3-101008

Now we’re in 4th, 2 behind behind Japan and 5 behind Spain. It’s probably too much to ask to catch up to Sweden (-14), but you never know when it comes to amateurs. Sure, Nordqvist is likely to contend at Q-School in December, but Walshe is looking to make a statement heading into it, too (she’s T12, 8 behind Anna, but only 1 down on Mika Miyazato, who’s also looking to qualify for the LPGA), and Blumenherst (T19) and T-Joh (T24) haven’t played close to their capabilities all week.

we can beat Spain!

Amanda almost did it single-handedly at the U.S. Wmen’s Aamateur!

http://www.uswamateur.org/scoring/reversetree.html

She took out Ciganda in her bracket and Munoz in the finals (Munoz had already beaten Mozo in the semis!).

Never mind that T-Joh got knocked out in the 1st round and Alison in the 2nd. After all, T-Joh won the Publinx and Amanda couldn’t get past the 1st round then.

pretty darn good..

…that’s not a bad comeback to get to 3rd. All three American girls had a bad first or second round – 19 over par between the three for their bad rounds. They put themselves in a tough spot and fought back. Gotta like that.

What a performancy by the Swedish girls ! WOW. Hedwall and Nordqvist were 22 under by themselves. Lindberg was +3 and they still won by 12.
